Really lovely house, great garden, which we were free to enjoy. Our bedroom was excellent with huge en suite bathroom and truly comfortable bed. To say our hosts were welcoming does scant justice: from first to last they made us feel we had chosen the right place to stay. Friendship is extended, and so those who stay are friendly towards each other. Very relaxing in the rose garden evening sun An excellent breakfast in the morning warmth was an apt way to end our stay.

This is a beautifully and tastefully restored Victorian house done with an exceptional eye to detail. The decor, the fittings, the linen - are all beautiful. The 2 hosts are delightfully interesting and welcoming people. Nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is exactly what you want. They ask you what you would like.

Everything was spotlessly clean and our room was very well-appointed. The en-suite bathroom was great and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in whilst away from home. The Lions is only a short walk from the town centre, and we were able to park our car off the road without any trouble on the driveway in front of the house. The hosts, Pablo and John, couldn't do enough for us and the breakfast was excellent. Highly recommended!

Everything about our stay here was fantastic, we were made so welcome by Jon and Pablo, we felt as though we were visiting old friends. The rooms were spotlessly clean, immaculately presented and spacious as well as being very comfortable. Breakfast was a treat, nothing was too much trouble and delicious, even our non-dairy and gluten free needs were catered for without any fuss and certainly no bother. Pablo even helped sort out a taxi to and from the wedding venue we were visiting. The hospitality we were shown was better than any where else we have stayed in the past, thanks Guys, a great stay at a great place.

Pablo and John were wonderful hosts. We followed their recommendations on where to eat and sights to see. We had a fantastic visit. We feel we made some new friends. At first I thought it would be too far from the center but I was wrong. It was only a six or seven minute walk which was very pleasant. The breakfasts were delicious, with fresh fruit, good coffee, and items cooked to order. The rear garden has tables and chairs and lovely grass and roses. It was a beautiful place to read a few pages in the afternoon.

The Lions in Newark is a wonderful place to stay, both for an overnight stop and longer. John & Pablo are super attentive, friendly hosts; breakfast is great and beautifully presented; and the house is gorgeous — superb décor, so well presented & maintained, and really comfortable & welcoming. Do I recommend it? There's no need to ask. Of course I do!
