United KingdomThe owners are on site and lovely. It was not freezing but quite chilly as it was mid December. How lovely to get a knock on the door one evening with a gift of hot minced pies and a delicious carrot cake. Good value for money and a bonus of an enclosed garden for the dogs.

Managed to roast some marshmallows on it and make some spooky smoores. Would Saturday again

Host Info
The Lodge is a magical place to stay. It is completely unoverlooked and very tranquil, an Ideal place to relax and unwind yet only 15 mins from Colchester town centre. With of horses grazing in the paddock beyond the garden fence and many birds visit the feeder each morning this is your view while enjoying your morning coffee. The Lodge is not super smart but very homely,completely self sufficient with gas central heating and a logburning stove a home away from home. Little Barn is suitable for 3 people. It also has Log Burner and Central heating a small kitchen and dining area. There is a small secure garden backing on to a yard where horses live. The Little barn makes a convenient base if travelling to Colchester or Ipswich or the AONB of the Dedham Vale .There is plenty of room to park
We are animal lovers and there are plenty on site including horses, dogs, geese and cats. I love to meet new people and hear about their lives and look forward to welcoming you to stay.
Ardleigh is a great place to stay. Dedham vale is on our doorstep.An area of outstanding natural beauty , here you will find coffee shops a beautiful church, lovely riverside walks and the munnings museum. Manningtree 5 mins by car is a riverside town with all the facilities you may need. Only 15 mins to Colchester town centre the oldest recorded town in Britain, and all the history that goes with it complemented by great shops, restaurants, cinemas and parks. Here in Ardleigh we are only 30 mins to the coast ie Frinton on sea, Clacton and Walton and The port of Harwich 20 mins away.
