A lovely retreat on the rather isolated Isle of Grain. The staff are lovely; both the check in and the breakfast was friendly and easy. They were very accommodating with my late arrival to check in. The room is simple but clean and comfortable.

Henry is a nice man and made us feel very welcome. You get the feeling like they're happy to help and staff are friendly :) I phoned for a couple extra tea bags and sugar sachets and they were outside our room within 2 minutes. Nice tetley tea and PG Tips as well as a selection of biscuits. The internet is BT and we had no issues streaming from the laptop. It was very quiet and there are nice places to walk nearby. The co-op is very close and we were able to order a takeaway on Just Eat. Overall we were both very happy and have both said we would like to stay again. Perfect little quiet getaway. 10/10

  • What time does breakfast start, do you do a grab bag?

    Anything can be provided if we are clear and agreed. Standard breakast is suspended, buffets still disbarred. We are 20m from supermarket as well.

  • Is this disabled friendly

    We do everything we can, we need guests to let us know any particular needs, but most rooms are on ground floor, we have wide corridors and staff willing to do anything for our guests.

  • Is there close by train and/ or bus service if not using private car? Thanks.

    2 bus stops are within 20 metres of our property, but it is a village bus, Arrive 191, you do need to check timetables on the internet in advance, and make sure it is not offputting. They all come from the Medway Towns, where Strood, Rochester, Chatham all have train stations pretty much on the 191 route. A car is better for our location, however.

  • Hi, Is it possible my dog (his name is Donkey) could stay with me as this holiday is really for him. He doesn't shed hair as he is 3/4 poodle. juliet

    We are officially no pets, guests do not expect to see dogs in upstairs corridors etc in hotels,, our consideration is always 100% with all our guests. 2 or 3 rooms might be suitable, with easy direct access to outside, but we must be telephoned b4.

  • what is meant by shareed bathroom?

    All rooms have sinks, but for rooms with shared bathroom, there are 6 toilets and 4 shower rooms to choose from, but these are not allocated specifically to rooms.

  • Hello. there are 18 of us, we’re looking to rent the whole house for Xmas, is this possible? Could we use the kitchen to cook Christmas dinner?

    There is no use of kitchen. Currently merely a small kitchenette area with microwave and toaster, kettles and fridges in room, but its not full self catering, obviously dinner for 18 just not feasible with those facilities.

    Its Rochester, Strood or Chatham, all 35-50 minutes from London, but it is a 20 minute taxi ride, or 1 hour on the bus I am afriad, we are hard to get to with no car.

We are a traditional English lodging house set in a quiet Kentish village. Guests should note our location on the south side of the river Thames, we are not commutable to Southend on Sea, but to the Kent towns and villages close to us. We are family run and believe in warm, but unobtrusive and respectful welcome. Our facilities do not match those of modern hotels, but we always do our best.
