The location of the hotel is perfect and within walking distance of everything in the village. If you want a luxury hotel this is not for you, but if you are looking for a basic, warm, clean central hotel with good service this is perfect.
Welcome to our 15th Century inn where our modern twist on the traditional creates a wonderful setting to enjoy our food, sample our local ales, explore our wine list and rest a weary head.

Gorgeous location in a quiet Suffolk Village. The building was beautiful and ideally decorated. We didn't use the restaurant but the menu looked good (we were meeting friends elsewhere). Bar was well stocked and staff very helpful. We upgraded and had a beautiful and large room. Bathroom was a little less decadent than the rest of the hotel but clean enough. We used our own toiletries but good to see environmental impact was thought about. TV was odd and difficult to use - usual channels didn't seem available and if we tried Netflix or any of the other apps, none of them worked, so we turned it off and just had music playing on our phones. Comfy bed, and tea/coffee available, so all good. We loved it.
*worth mentioning that had we paid full price I would have felt it a little expensive, but I had a Booking.com credit and so actually it felt like a bargain.

Long Milford is long!
Long Milford is long! It’s a beautiful and striking place with a wonderful church and green at one end and a long engaging street which takes you to the other. Milford Hall sits near the church and is a National Trust site well worth a visit. Classic Suffolk architecture runs down the high street.

We have visited Long Melford before a few years ago.
We have visited Long Melford before a few years ago. It is a nice place to travel to. Some shops have closed but it is still interesting with its Pubs and Cafe's. Plenty of little villages and towns to explore while staying there. We were able to reach places of interest during that time.
Not far from us in Essex and Hertfordshire with lovely changes of scenery.
Very relaxing weekend.

It is as lovely old village, 3 miles long with some vey interesting period buildings. Our highlight was the Abbey Church at the top of the hill; one of the top 3 churches in England and Melford Hall, a gem of a NT property. We sent hours exploring the hall, listening to the guides and search out the references to Beatrix Potter who was a frequent visitor. We also chose to stay there because of its proximity to Lavenham, one of the prettiest villages in England, a MUST visit village. Long Melford has a great range of hotels , pubs and bars, you can choose to spend what you like. We eat in the Cock and Bull where we obtained two main meals for £14.00, excellent value, extensive range and served piping hot.

Long Melford is a lovely village with lots of interesting things to do and two big houses to visit. "Imagine" is an excellent gallery for pottery. The church is special and has unique brasses.
We had the Most amazing night stay in The Melford Room. A night away from the stress of businesses and kids.
We walked along Long Melford high street, looking in all the little quirky shops and antique shops.
Had a lovely evening meal in The Bajee Indian restaurant in the high street.
Paul cooked a perfect breakfast we can’t wait to go back and stay for longer next time.
You won’t be disappointed it’s just amazing and worth the extra for comfort and perfection
All the staff were lovely. Being an old building I didn’t expect the room to be as big as it was. I have fibromyalgia so had to ask for an extra quilt, so I could lay on one and put the other over me, it was provided immediately. The meals were superb and so much nicer as I didn’t have to cook them myself. The hotel car park wasn’t very big but we normally managed to find a space on the road and parking was free which is rare these days.
This was a lovely place that had all sorts of comforts- a nice terrace outside, basic cooking facilities, including a fridge and microwave, makings for a good breakfast, and a good location within walking distance of the center of Long Melford. It is effectively a room- so not to make out that it is a self-catering property, but basic picnic meals could be prepared and eaten on the terrace. And, it was a reasonable price!
The lodge is very comfortable and has everything you need. It's very relaxing to sit in the garden and spend time watching the sunsets. Long Melford is a lovely town with lots to see and do in the area. Kayaking near Sudbury, cycling on the disused railway and plenty of walks. Would definitely recommend this accommodation. The complimentary breakfast items were much appreciated. Thank you.
Very good pub/hotel in a fine location, the outlook from our room being over a large green at one end of the long main street which presumably gives Long Melford its name. Food and service were high standard. Nearby is a fine example of one of the impressive 'wool churches' which arose in this area from the wealth from wool in the Middle Ages. Plenty to visit locally.
Friendly staff and excellent meals although delivery problems curtailed some of the items on the menu. Breakfast was included and was comprehensive and enjoyable. Free parking at the rear was an added bonus which made life that much easier. There are a lot of cars parked up in Long Melford. Overall, a base for a good holiday in lovely West Suffolk.
The location, Long Melford, is an interesting place with other attractions nearby. The guest house itself has a fascinating history, and the accommodation is both comfortable and charming. Claire and Laurie are very welcoming hosts, and breakfast is a total feast. Our warmest thanks to you both for making us so welcome!
The room was nice, clean, comfy and spacious. The cooked warm breakfast served on the table was superb. The hotel has very limited guest parking but there's free parking outside on the street. A very nice place to stay in the lovely little village of Long Melford, which is very close to Lavenham.
It was a beautiful property and provided everything we needed to enjoy our stay in long Melford during our visit with family. The yard is beautiful. The kitchen is fully stocked with plenty of things to cook with. The beds are comfy. They provided a few games for the kids. It was a lovely stay.
Absolutely perfect in every way. Short walk into Long Melford where there are several places to eat and drink. Hosts were fantastic and very accommodating. We loved our stay and would certainly recommend it for anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life.
It was a lovely, cozy, comfortable and well equipped cottage with everything we needed for a short romantic break. Good location, just a short leisurely walk from the centre of Long Melford where you find an ample supply of pubs, tea rooms, shops, antique emporiums, etc
Room was luxury. Wood burner a bonus. Breakfast was a good choice and excellent. Recommend pancakes.Paul and Clare excellent hosts. Lot's of information on the Mill and Long Melford. Can't wait to go back sometime in 2023. We highly recommend The Mill.
The location and accommodation was lovely. It was peaceful.
Fresh milk in the fridge was great.
Also a short walk (just over a mile) to Long Melford for a decent curry at the Onion Bhaji.
If there were any issues Bruce was always on hand to help.
Beautiful location and surroundings, just a walk across the fields to pubs and cafes of Long Melford. Tastefully decorated. Friendly owner who greeted us upon arrival. Nice enclosed area outdoors where we had breakfast.
Food (both breakfast and evening meal) was very good and the menu imaginative. The staff were very pet-friendly and generally helpful – although perhaps a little out of practice after being furloughed for so long...
great staff working hard to welcome guests.
cosy room with historic feel.
fantastic food.
great atmosphere in and around hotel.
definately reccomended if staying in the area
Beautifully appointed hotel in all respects, great dining/b'fast areas and room, fabulous that dogs were allowed wherever humans went including restautant
