I was asked for a £50 deposit after check in, apparently the hotel has been damaged in the past by residents and the caretaker wrote to me to ask me for a £50 deposit that could be refunded if the room wasn't damaged - the request was from 'Mike', not on headed notepaper, was this a scam?

Hello, A True Friend has stayed at this property previously and has recommended this Property, My Room was really lovely, and was in a quiet location. The Breakfasts filled me up each day I was staying. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to travel home earlier. The Guest House is really clean and hospitable. There is a bus stop close by, and the Railway Station is close by along the main road. This property offers scrumptous evening meals. But there are other options including a microwave in the Lounge upstairs, so you can get something from the Supermarket and heat it etc. There is also a very good pub that does meals which is by the Railway Station.

Very courteous and accommodating landlady who ..due to me leaving at 6.30 am every day..took the time to leave me a takeaway breakfast which I could heat up at work . Also very quiet environment with no noisy vehicles.

The hosts Martin and Petra were a lovely welcoming couple, and nothing was too much trouble for them, Our accommodation was absolutely spotless and well appointed,,we had a gorgeous bedroom with ensuit and also a sitting room attached to relax in and watch TV and enjoy a glass of wine and a few nibbles, just so gorgeous and relaxing 😌
