The room was clean and comfortable, lots of hot water and great water pressure, large towels which was great. The food at the pub was great and well priced and the staff super friendly. There are multiple stores including a super market and pharmacy within a 1min walk which was fantastic.
The hotel is also very secure with multiple scan-in access points which was great.

Had a great stay at the Bel and Dragon. We stayed in the family room which was great for us. The bunk beds are in a separate area of the bedroom so once the children were asleep we were still able to have lights on and watch TV in the part of the room without waking them.
The staff were fantastic with a special shout out to Anya who greeted us every morning for breakfast and was really attentive and made us feel welcome.
Our little one has a milk allergy and they were able to cater well for him and offer alternative milk etc easily which made our stay so much easier.
We will definitely be back when we are in the area.

Lovely big car park and nice looking property. Decent sized room, but would have loved to see some colour, perhaps in cushions and a few pictures as it was a bit bland. Climb into the bath to shower with a shower curtain, never our favourite. All just a bit tired, with a strangely bumpy floor. However, the price was reasonable and we didn’t pay for luxury.

Very central for dinner at Heckfield Place if you don't want...
Very central for dinner at Heckfield Place if you don't want to pay a ludicrous amount to stay there! The New Inn is about a mile from Heckfield Place but the busy road means it is not recommended to walk. The beds would benefit from a 'Topper' as the mattress was a little uncomfortable. The price for the room was exceedingly low for all the amenities you would expect in a hotel room.

The location and staff all superb. The pub is lovely.
The accommodation needs improving, the bed was extremely uncomfortable and actually made the stay painful, woke up with stiff neck and sore. The bathroom was clean but dated.
We were on a cycling trip in the area with our son. It was everything we needed. Friendly and attentive service, good quality fresh food hot food (nothing reheated in a microwave, tasty cooked to order hot breakfast, good parking ......all in all a very good stay and would return if in the area again.
Take a drive to Hazeley Heath .....a lovely place to walk and cycle and great to take a drink and snack up to at sunset. Swinley Forest about 28 mins away with all it MTB cycling routes and plenty of other things to do in the area.
Pleasantly surprised by nicely renovated rooms. Although quite small, the first room we stayed in had a large American king size bed (UK king is American queen), comfortable layout and excellent shower. Immaculately clean and we slept well. Window opened to a lovely view of adjacent field. Hotel staff, particularly a woman from Canada whose name escapes me, are quite friendly and hospitable. We were going to the Reading town centre for dinner and she recommended an excellent resto.
Lovely quiet ground floor room. Copious amounts of hot water. Large walk in shower. Responsive and friendly staff. Comfortable beds .Very minor issues dealt with quickly - missing bulb, shower mat. Brilliant evening meals in traditional setting - food excellent. Good. Particularly liked waking up to birds amongst trees despite being near a very busy road. Lovely grounds with outdoor eating areas and dog friendly. Overall a really lovely hotel which we would willingly use again.
Lovely old pub / hotel only spent one night but enjoyed the stay the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Nice meal in the evening with plenty of choice, lovely laid back atmosphere.
Chatting with a few of the locals who were lovely.
We had a room at the back not much of a few but nice and quiet, think rooms at the front might have experienced bit of road noise .
Breakfast was in with the price and delicious and plenty of choice .
But would recommend
Such a lovely hotel and the staff are brilliant nothing is too much trouble the only thing I would say is because the windows aren't double glazed you can here the traffic through the night
I have stayed at the Wellington Arms several times when we host events locally. We have brought some very high profile guests but in recent visits, the hotel standard is really in decline.
Beautiful location and hotel. The staff are always there, never a moment where there is no one around. They go above and beyond to serve you.
Rooms were clean and tidy. Lots of space too.
Everything was exceptionally good at this hotel with extra little touches like leather chairs and chess board in the hallway, wellingtons for muddy walks
