Today the area has a real diverse and cosmopolitan atmosphere, with local residents from such a huge range of wealth, culture, and religious backgrounds. Surrounded by some of London’s iconic landmarks, and world-renowned attractions. The history of "The New Inn" building that our hotel resides in, was constructed in 1820’s and really was an “Inn” from the start. Providing accommodation and refreshments for the manual labour force, working along the newly constructed Regents Canal in 1814 which went straight into Kings Cross, as this place was the cutting edge for technology & enterprise through the 1820’s and 1830’s. The church at St Johns Wood roundabout was built in 1814 and catered for the foresters as it was mainly an area of agricultural lands. In the 1880’s, a gentleman by the name of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle lived in an isolated house nearby and practiced as a doctor in Harley Street, he created the character of Sherlock Holmes and gave Holmes’s address as 221b Baker Street.
