Dating from 1701, The Old Forge was the former village Blacksmith’s Cottage and Forge. Offering bed and breakfast and self catering cottages throughout the year, a warm North Yorkshire welcome awaits you in this charming holiday accommodation. All guest rooms are well appointed and comfortable with en suite facilities. Parking is available in the private courtyard. Anvil and Horseshoe cottages are cosy, self-contained cottages for two, converted from the old stables with on site parking.
Nestled between the North Yorkshire Moors and the Wolds, Pickering Vale boasts a number of charming villages and pubs. Just one and a half miles away the attractive village of Thornton-Le-Dale has two pubs serving food, a butcher, a baker, a general store and Post Office, a small convenience store and several cafes. Pickering is a small market town with the Beck Isle Museum, a Co-Op supermarket, bakers, butchers, chemists, pubs and several restaurants. It is also home to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which runs steam trains to Whitby across the Moors via Levisham, Goathland (where Heartbeat was filmed) and Grosmont. Also within easy reach are the charming coastal villages of Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, as well as the bigger towns of Scarborough and Whitby where there are a number of excellent fish restaurants, as well as many good fish and chip shops. Dalby Forest with its 55 miles of cycle trails, walks, Go Ape and Segway is a few miles away, and a little further afield is the impressive Castle Howard, which often has special market and event days. West from The Old Forge you will find the Ryedale Folk Museum in picturesque Hutton-Le-Hole, and the lovely market
