Great location, clean room, comfortable bed and amazing friendly hosts. The room was basic but perfect for my requirements. It had everything I needed for my stay and was a fabulous base for exploring the town. Excellent value for money too and so close to the train station and there was a live music venue close-by that had a super gig on. The hotel itself was incredibly quiet though. I didn't hear a peep whilst I was there.
United KingdomThe lack of a breakfast was not a problem. The Brook St Cafe does a fantastic range of food.
United KingdomSpacious suite with brand new kitchen for drinks & snacks. Immaculately clean and excellent shower. Bed comfortable. Sofa and armchair Staff all friendly and obliging No breakfast but in a street full of multi cultural shops and cafes. Excellent Polish bakery 2 mins across the road for breakfast or traditional English cafe 3 mins away
United KingdomRoom was clean. bed was very comfortable location was perfect for a visit to the town of chester
United KingdomWas welcomed by staff and I instantly noticed was clean and tidy the hotel looked and how professional and enthusiastic the staff were, I was shown to my room and had the working of the door and the features of the room explained to me, the facilities of each room do differ this will depend on what you have booked and how much you have paid, in my case it was £100 for 2 nights in a large double room with kitchen, smaller rooms available for £68 2 nights, I had pre booked well in advance as this guest house is popular and can sell out. Located only 5 mins from the railway station and 2 minutes from a real ale bar, about a 15 min walk to the cathedral and city centre. I will use the Ormonde again when next in Chester.
United KingdomLocation is excellent and the room was great. Service was excellent and COVID aware.

Host Info
THE ORMONDE GUESTHOUSE HISTORY Former Railway Tavern public house, later renamed as the Ormonde tavern. Late 19th, early 20th century. Two storey, 3 bay semi symmetrical arrangement with projecting terminal end bays, timber framed gables to projecting bays. Slate roof, 1st floor timber framed. Ground floor Ruabon brick with stone dressings to window heads, cheeks and cills, casement windows with leaded transome lights. This building is now the Ormonde Hotel. "Ormonde" (1883–1904) was an English Thoroughbred racehorse, an unbeaten Triple Crown winner, generally considered to be one of the greatest racehorses ever. He also won the Champion Stakes and the Hardwicke Stakes twice. At the time he was often labeled as the 'horse of the century'. Ormonde was trained at Kingsclere by John Porter for the 1st Duke of Westminster. His regular jockeys were Fred Archer (who features on the sign outside the hotel in the correct colours) and Tom Cannon. After retiring from racing he suffered fertility problems, but still sired Orme, who won the Eclipse Stakes twice. It has been suggested that "Ormonde's" sire was the model for "Silver Blaze" in the Sherlock Holmes story of the same name,
