Bright and characterful self-contained hideaway with amazing south-facing views of the hills in the centre of Pitlochry. Private entrance to the rear of a lovely stone house in a beautiful shared family garden setting with outdoor furniture that guests can use. Newly renovated with contemporary and vintage furniture and a luxury new Simba mattress for a peaceful sleep. Access to shed for bike storage and outdoor tap for muddy wheels and wellies! Perfect for couples or solo travellers. Not recommended for people with mobility issues as the property is at the top of a hill (a 5 min walk from the bottom of the hill!). A taxi is recommended if coming by train and you have lots of luggage.
Hello! After living and working overseas, I recently returned to my lovely hometown of Pitlochry to raise my family. I work freelance for creative and community organisations and love exploring (and swimming in) the lochs and hills of the wild local area. I am happy to give you top tips of secret gems to discover.
The main street in Pitlochry bustles most of the year, but just 5 mins away, where The Paddle Nook is located, it is peaceful and residential. From here, there is a beautiful woodland walk to a small loch with swans and ducks. If you want a decent hike, Craigower and Ben Vrackie are easily accessible walking straight from the house. You can hire e-bikes and road and mountain bikes, paddleboards, canoes and fishing boats locally. The famous golf course is only a 10 min walk away. There are plenty of coffee shops for tea and cake. A short drive away, there are beautiful spots including Queens View, The Hermitage, Soldiers Leap, Dunkeld and Aberfeldy and also lots of wild swimming spots nearby. The main train station (linking to Inverness, Edinburgh and London etc) is just a 10 minute walk away (downhill so you have to walk uphill when you arrive if not coming by car). The main bus stop to Glasgow, Inverness and Edinburgh is a 5 min walk away. The main supermarket (coop) is just 5 mins walk away. The dam cafe and Escape Route and cafe calluna are all really great cafes.
