What can we say... A beautiful place to stay . The priory is obviously loved as Chris and Sarah have brought this home to life with an eclectic mix of old and new. Total luxury in the rooms with plenty of tea and coffee a fridge for guest use and a fabulous breakfast, being gluten free can make things a bit tricky but they made me feel like nothing was too much trouble and I even had delicious lemon gf biccys in the room. And Gf sausage and bread at breakfast. Sarah and Chris are really helpful and on hand to chat or ask directions or for local info and indeed info on the house, but also step back enough to give you privacy and quiet. The rooms are stunning and so comfy with delightful en suite bathroom with a view . Middleham itself is a lovely small little village, Leyburn being slightly busier and a really enjoyable morning walk round, with Ripping not too far away either. We will look forward to visiting again . Thank you Sarah and Chris for a really relaxing and luxurious weekend
United KingdomWe had the most wonderful room on the top floor with beautiful beams and copper bath. The hosts were amazing - so friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were amazing! We had read previous reviews and they were not wrong. The first day we had the English breakfast with the most amazing black pudding - the second day we tried the vegetarian breakfast and it was fantastic (but I had to ask for the black pudding to accompany it - way to go Sarah!). The location is wonderful and to wake up every morning to the clip clop of the race horses passing was just wonderful. Fantastic location for beautiful walks. Thoroughly recommend.
JerseySarah and Chris (hosts) were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The location was superb in a beautiful village. Our room was large and well equipped with everything we needed for a great break. Would definitely recommend The Priory.

and child friendly. Our refurbished rooms aren’t just a place to sleep, but a place to enjoy and indulge yourself. Roll top baths, vaulted ceilings, freestanding copper baths, stunning bathroom fittings, walk in showers, fluffy towels and bathrobes, Cole and Son toiletries are just some of the features we’ve meticulously chosen with the help from a local architect and interior design company. You have full use of the guest drawing room overlooking Middleham Castle, home to King Richard III dating back 1000 years. Put your feet up, choose from a bookcase of books, take in a film or put on some music. You can sit and enjoy our garden and courtyard at the back of The Priory through the wrought iron gates.
Chris and Sarah moved to Middleham in May 2012. we wanted to establish an exceptional base for exploring the abundance that are the Yorkshire Dales. Our first project was to create a bed and breakfast guest house that we would stay at. We wanted to make the most of The Priory's warmth with an informal hospitality in accommodation of the very highest standard.
Middleham is a most unusual place with a colourful history, a thriving horse-racing community and is set amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Wensleydale countryside with remote farms, beautiful little villages and heather covered grouse moors. Perfect for walking, cycling or just sightseeing and a favourite haunt of many artists! The art of training thoroughbreds has survived for more than two centuries at Middleham, thanks mainly to the excellent facilities that have been developed on the local moorland that surround the town. Middleham has established itself as one of the best training centers in the country, having had over 400 winners each year for the past 38 years, Middleham Trainers produce an average of almost a winner every single day of the year. With its extensive Grass, All weather gallops and Therapy Centre, and is one of the most picturesque towns in the North of England with panoramic views of the Dales. Hence the abundance of good quality pubs, restaurants and hotels which all add up to a most enjoyable place to spend a weekend. Middleham also has 10 racecourses within an hours reach.
