Queensferry is a lovely place to walk around.
Queensferry is a lovely place to walk around. There are lots of excellent restaurants and coffee shops. I had lunch at the Railbridge Bistro and a lovely dinner at the Thirty Knots restaurant. There are nice little shops to browse in. Queensferry is very near Edinburgh and there is an excellent train service into the city from Dalmeny Station.

Great place to base yourself for trips to Edinburgh or Livingston. Our son loved watching the trains cross the forth rail bridge, the aquarium and the ice cream at the little parlour. Breakfast at down the hatch was also delicious.

On this occasion, I did not stay long but it is a very interesting place with easy access to all parts of Scotland thanks to the Forth Bridges. There are small shops as well as supermarkets and lots of lovely places to eat, most with spectacular views while you eat. I think the best thing is just wandering around on foot, without needing a car, and exploring.

Parking can be difficult but we’ve managed each time we’ve visited.

The Dakota Edinburgh is very conveniently located near the international airport. The hotel/airport shuttle was always available. If you have an event at the Dundas Castle, this is the place to stay. It is a short mile from the hotel. Queensferry to Edinburgh is about a 1/2 hour drive.
Location was great - S. Queensferry wonderful in and of itself; perfect base for exploring Edinburgh (bus stop just a few steps away). The loft was perfect for our needs; nice kitchen, very comfy queen-size (or maybe king-size?) bed, well-equipped kitchen. Loved the video provided prior as a "user's manual". Every lodging has different systems (access, heat, etc); really appreciated not having to figure out how things work in the Loft.
The staff at Hawes Inn were all very friendly and helpful. Above all, the food in their restaurant was outstanding! It was the best food that we ate anywhere during our entire two-week stay in Scotland, and we traveled throughout the country! The Hawes Inn actually offers a breakfast prepared in their own gourmet kitchen as their breakfast included with your stay!
The main reason we chose this hotel was that it had an airport shuttle and wasn't as expensive as the hotels right at the airport. It really is a very nice hotel, very clean, quiet, and comfortable. All the staff members we met were very friendly and helpful, and the shuttle was prompt and well driven. We had a lovely supper at the restaurant.
Staff were great - had a larger room than I expected for just one person. The breakfast choices are good and I tried the full Scottish including Haggis, black pudding and lorne sausage. I love South Queensferry so I always enjoying walking and eating in this little village. The bus to Edinburgh worked perfectly for me.
Room was enormous, with twin turrets and a view straight out over the Firth of Forth, the iconic Forth Rail Rail bridge and also the hotel gardens.
The staff were friendly and professional and nothing was too much trouble.
Ideally located for ferry trips along the Firth and easy access to Edinburgh.
The location was central to Edinburgh, Stirling, and the roads that head to the Highlands. The house was extremely well kept, beautiful, impeccably clean, and had all the modern amenities. The instruction binder on-site was thorough and left no questions unanswered.
Lovely welcome, comfortable clean room with fab views. Perfect location for everything we planned. Managed to get free parking a short distance from the property. Plenty of eating places within south queensferry, overall a great stay
We stay here all the time as we travel to the Highlands of Scotland often and this is the 'gateway' stop for most trips through the Cairngorms. It is an excellent hotel, comfortable clean with a great team working there.
Perfect in every way ! Queensferry is just amazingly beautiful and charming.
Incredible breakfast, welcoming and lovely host.
Extremely comfortable and just 30mn from Edinburgh.
Would recommand blindfolded !
See above. Carole made us more than welcome and brought extra logs for the fire. South Queensferry is a perfect spot, easy walkable access to Dalmeny Station for a 20 minute trip to Edinburgh.
Location exceptional. House has character. Hosts extremely friendly and helpful. Abercorn estate and surroundings lovely. Good base for seeing Scotland especially Edinburgh.
Beautiful hotel. Homely and modern finsihes, and cosy nucks for dinner and drinks. Great location under the bridge, 2 minutes walk to main street. Would highly recommend.
Great views and location , lovely restaurant, huge bedroom. Never realised it was such an amazing hotel, very useful for Edinburgh City, the airport and the bridge north!
