Fantastic sea view from room 11, friendly and helpful staff

Lovely view of the beach from my room... Clean facilities, room was spacious enough for 2 adults and a toddler. Shower facilities are great and the water pressure was ideal! Lovely variety for breakfast and dinner menu. Pleasant staff at both hotel and restaurant. Also situated in the main street, sooo perfect access to convenience stores, taxis and also the beach. Surreal views of the coastline on a sunny day with blue skies.

We had a choice off the menu for breakfast, and that was most welcome after days of the standard Scottish breakfast while traveling the country. Tyler, who ran the check-in desk and also works the bar and restaurant, was excellent and really responsive to our concerns about a really bad mattress. He changed and upgraded our room and it made a big difference! And the hotel was just 10 minutes from Dunnottar Castle, a helpful distance to travel.

We loved our breakfasts and we loved the exuberance and friendliness of our waitress who was very helpful also with local information. Our night meals were also delicious and generous. We enjoyed the whole experience in Stonehaven and if circumstances ever allow would love to go back and have time to see and do more. We would be happy to stay here again. Was a wonderful experience! Absolutely loved it!

We were a group of 6 adults staying 2 nights over New Year. The location was excellent for the town and walks to Dunnotter Castle and Woods. The staff in all areas (reception, bar, breakfast and housekeeping) were very friendly, helpful and cheery. We all had a "small" double room but was adequate for us. The rooms were comfy and clean, Plenty choice for breakfast and chef did special requests on the day also. We booked a meal on Hogmanay and we all enjoyed the choices and what we chose. I would choose this hotel again.

  • Hi Royal Hotel, we would like to stay for 2 nights in late July, but we will have our push bikes with us and do not want to leave them in the car overnight. Is there safe storage for them within your hotel - we are happy to have them in our room if there is limited space? Many thanks Lee Wolfenden

  • How many floors is there and is there a lift

    Our bar and bar lounge are on the gground floor. Our hotel rooms and lovely restaurant are all on the 1st floor up 17 steps. I hope this helps.

    Hi there, we allow pets in the front section of our bar, which is open for both food and drinks daily. However, unfortunatly we do not allow pets in the rooms unless they are service animals to due allergies.
