For the price we paid for 2 nights we were very surprised at the quality, cleanliness and comfort of the room. The food was very tasty and great quality products were used. The staff were more than welcoming, it was like you had known them forever, the manager Sharon was absolutely brilliant, helpful, friendly and very good at her job, an asset to the company. We will definitely be going back again, not just to stay at the great place but to see Sharon again, actually felt like we new her forever and felt we had made a friend too.
United KingdomOur room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The en suite shower was great. Breakfast was excellent. Choice of eggs with our English Breakfast. We also ate a main meal in the restaurant - the food and service was good.
United KingdomLocation is perfect, right in the center of town, a short walk from the train station. The cozy room types are on the smaller size but beds are super comfy and not noisy at all. Food at the pub and service is very good for lunch/dinner too. Can’t go wrong with ship inn. Will be back next time in Rye.
United KingdomThis is a lovely little place to stay. Our suite was very nice and perfect for a family of four. Kids shared the sofa bed. Breakfast was good. The best thing about it is that the staff are really helpful and friendly.
United KingdomThe location in the town centre is great. The pub is very attractive, a lovely old building. Fish and chips for dinner was very good and breakfast was excellent
United KingdomThe staff were amazing and the Inn was wonderful. All very clean, a very good choice for breakfast (although you needed to remind them about the accompanying fruit juice and toast!). Very central - all the centre was in walking distance including a supermarket.
United KingdomRoom was comfortable and quiet, even though it's right above the pub, and it is located right in the heart of Rye. The pub serves locally sourced ales, ciders and wines and has a lovely ambience and delicious food. The complimentary breakfast was terrific and definitely made it a value-for-money stay. Staff were friendly and always helpful. The Ship's Inn is perfect for a romantic weekend getaway.
South KoreaThey provided cereal and orange juice as I needed to leave before their breakfast was available
United KingdomPerfect location, right by the Heritage Centre. Cosy and comfortable bed. Bright room and excellent staff.
United KingdomBreakfast, location, staff - a great little place for a weekend away.

Host Info
Company info
We are part of a unique hospitality business with the globally respected Hush Heath Winery in Kent at our core. Nurtured from the vines of Hush Heath Estate we have a collection of individual inns and pubs dedicated to the provision of exceptional hospitality; great thoughtful service, convention-challenging wines and spirits, and locally-inspired dishes presented with real flair.
Property info
Welcome to the Ship Inn, disputedly Rye’s oldest pub! Evidence show that the original name of the Ship was ‘The Cock and Coney’ from a deed dated 1722. This grade 2 listed building was built in 1592. During the 18th century it was used to store contraband confiscated from smugglers (usually alcohol), the contraband would be auctioned off and buyers were expected to taste the goods before parting with their money, this is most probably how the Ship first became a pub. The sign on east wall quotes Lord Pembroke in 1781 "will Washington take America or smugglers England first?". Underneath there is a list of custom boats and men of war nearly all from the 18th century. Latin inscription on the other sign reads "God favors King Edward of England". In more recent history the Ship was rumoured to be frequented by members of the famous writer's club named the Bloomsbury group whose members included Virginia Woolf and H.G Wells.
Neighborhood info
Perched on a hill, the medieval town of Rye is the sort of place you thought existed only in your imagination. Almost suspended in time, Rye’s unhurried atmosphere and enchanting streets draw visitors with their warm welcome. It’s small enough to make you feel at home almost straight away but holds enough secret treasures to entice you to stay much longer.
