The evening meal was excellent, the food quality was very good and the prices reasonable. The menu was very good and there were several thing we wanted to try. The breakfast was good too.

Surrounded by the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Teesdale Hotel is a former 18th-century coaching inn with free on-site parking, an extensive wine cellar and a well-stocked bar with local real ales.

French doors lead from the bar onto the patio, where food and drink can be enjoyed. A log fire is featured in the bar, which also offers refreshing ciders and a selection of malt whiskeys. Meat from local butchers, trout from local anglers and Teesdale's own Cotherstone Cheese are included on the varied restaurant and bar menu.

Each Teesdale room offers a TV, work desk and tea/coffee making facilities.

England's largest waterfall, High Force, is only 4.5 miles away and can be reached via a scenic walking route. The historic town of Barnard Castle is a 20-minute drive and features the world-famous Bowes Museum.

  • Hi - I will be travelling to the area for work in early March. Please could you confirm if you are able to take bookings at the moment for essential business travel? And please could you let me know what Covid-related rules and precautions you have in place?

    Hi. We will take room-only permitted bookings by arrangement. All staff are masked, hygiene stations throughout. Personal PPE pack in all very clean rooms. We are currently refurbishing but there will be no disturbance to you.

  • Is there a safe place to store bicycles or can we take them into the room?

    It is often possible to store your bicycle in our boiler room but this MUST be prior arrangement as that space may already be in use.

  • Are u pet freindly

    We allow pets in certain rooms which cannot be allocated via online booking. If you require a pet-friendly room you will need to book direct so that you can have a more effective discussion with us and we can easily answer all of your queries

  • Is there parking for minibus?

    Access for our private car park has limited width and headroom. Big enough for the dimensions of a standard Transit van but not much bigger. There are no parking restrictions for kerbside parking around the hotel and this is not usually a problem.
