We felt like we went back in time with the wonderful decor of our room. We stayed in the Guard room. This is a must to stay in Edinburgh! Also, be sure to eat at the Secret Garden restaurant. It is an experience in itself with amazing food and ambiance. We will definitely visit again. Loved everything about the Witchery Hotel. Thank you to the staff and the owner for creating such a unique Hotel. Loved our stay.
United States of AmericaBeautiful room, very friendly staff. Lots of little suprises and goodies.
United States of AmericaEVERYTHING! Staff was outstanding, they would do anything to make your stay perfect. The building is quite mysterious and it was fun to watch all the tourists taking pictures of our Close and then we got to unlock the gate and go in. ha! :)
United States of AmericaBeautiful historical building in a wonderful location
United States of AmericaExpansive, private, centrally located to the main city attractions we were intending to see.
United States of AmericaWow, what an experience. The first impression, as you enter the room, is staggering. Certainly, an experience somewhere between (what I imagine) straying in a 17th century gentrified townhouse and a Sherlock Holmes movie set. It was a great experience and one I don't regret, nor am I likely to forget. We enjoyed the restaurant (breakfast and dinner). Our servers we attentive and very professional and the overall dining experience was not nearly as pretentious as I had imagined. The food was of a good standard, and while not spectacular, the ambience and the service more than made up for it. The in-room breakfast option was really good and I would strongly recommend this option. The location of the property cannot be beaten - just bear in mind you are on the Royal Mile, so the hum-drum of the passing tourists adds to the realism of an "early modern cityscape".
United KingdomWe stayed in the Herriot Suite which had an amazing bathroom and very comfortable four poster bed and lovely seating area. The room was very clean, with very soft, fluffy bath towels. Even though it is in the centre of the city we had a great night's sleep, the room was really quiet. They have put gluten free cookies in our room which was a nice touch. Breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked and they had gluten free haggis and black pudding which was a real treat.
United KingdomUnique experience as if travels back in history and stays in another century but still maintains the modern comfort. Staff all helpful and make sure we have everything. Love the space in our room with its own dining room having a choice of breakfast delivered. Every room is of different decoration, can‘t wait to go again and discover.
Hong KongBoth breakfast and dinner were excellent. Especially the men's service was the best. Women are not good enough.

The Witchery by the Castle offers a range of opulent suites in Edinburgh, each one unique with its own special features. Lavishly furnished suites display gothic touches, with large oak beds and 4-posters, velvet-lined walls and flamboyant red and gold décor indicative of the style. There are separate seating areas and large bathrooms with free-standing silver baths. Each of The Witchery’s 9 suites is different, but walk-in dressing rooms, love seats and tapestries set the tone. Some rooms overlook Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, looking down towards Princes Street, or across to the old town. An indulgent breakfast hamper will be served in the room each morning or guests can choose to have a cooked breakfast served in the restaurant at no extra cost. The Witchery’s seductive glamor has caught the attention of The Times, The Telegraph and Condé Nast Traveler, and many celebrity fans have enjoyed its suites. The impressive restaurant also showcases fine Scottish dishes in similarly decadent surroundings.
This is our guests' favorite part of Edinburgh, according to independent reviews.
