“We had a lovely stay for our wedding anniversary at The George. The staff were absolutely fantastic, great customer service ! Our room when we arrived was right above main street on a Friday night and im a light sleeper so asked the gentleman on the front desk if he could switch our room to a quieter one, it was no problem at all and he even helped carry our bags to the quieter room. Drink and food was superb and our lovely waiter Theo really knew his stuff and guided us through the menu. Decor was stylish and clean too. All in all a great stay and would definitely go back.”

“Location central so convenient for tourist sights, eating & shopping. Beautiful old building lovingly restored with contemporary but sympathetic decoration. We had a huge bedroom and bathroom beautifully decorated. Despite facing the street it was quiet. An excellent breakfast. Th staff were welcoming and helpful.”

The TV stopped working in our room and maintenance were unable to fix. When we returned to reception they offered to move us straight away and without question. We did not bother as it was our last night but it was nice to have the option.”

“Having already stayed one night in this establishment with my family in late September I was already aware of the qualities. On this occasion the hotel was already preparing for the Christmas season and as a consequence was tastefully decorated. The location of the hotel was ideal for the Colchester Arts Centre, which was the purpose of our visit.The twin room was of a good size and very comfortable. Checking in and out was very efficiently processed. Full English was the order of the day and the team that worked in this area were very friendly and prompt in their level of service. Short as it may be it was a comfortable stay. Thank you.”
