Small town but had a lovely book store ( new and second hand) and lots of choice of catergories.I stayed at Royal Station Hotel which provided basic and clean accommodation for the night.
I personally wanted to go to Carnforth to visit the Heritage centre and watch the film Brief Encounter as it was filmed at the Carnforth railway station. The Refreshment room had good choices for lunch. You can also take a train through the edge of The Yorkshire Dales from there.

Carnforth is a small but vibrant town.
Carnforth is a small but vibrant town. There are several pubs, restaurants and an excellent bookshop. Transport links are first rate. There is easy access by train, bus or car to Lancaster, Kendal and the Lake District.

Lovely modern cottage.
Lovely modern cottage. It’s kitchen had everything needed to cook a full meal. Bed very comfortable. Shower hot. Quiet location even though it’s near to a motorway. Lovely walk along the canal and a pub on the doorstep. What’s not to like.

Nice little town with historic sites.
Nice little town with historic sites. Highly recommend the Royal Station Hotel for food. It looks a little dowdy on the outside but the fact you have to reserve a table tells you everything you need to know about the quality of the food and the lovely staff.

Carnforth is a a nice place, we had lunch at the station before arrival and it was lovely and well priced, we didn’t do much else in carnforth but he surrounding areas of wonderland retreats was lovely, and all the trees really made us feel like we were in our own little world.
Everything.. the decor in the rooms is absolutely fabulous. Someone has great interior design taste.
The beds were super comfy, and the smeg fridge was a great touch.
Normally, hotels that accept dogs are a little tired and run down.
This place was perfect.. unbelievably clean and very modern but with a retro feel..
The food was delicious, and it was so peaceful.
Very close to different nature reserves.
We all loved our stay ❤️ thank you for such a beautiful experience
Capernwray House is a complete delight. A marvellous peaceful country location, yet not far from the M6 and Carnforth. Mel offers the warmest of welcomes upon arrival, with tea or coffee and sweet treats in the lounge. The rooms are decorated with impeccable taste and modern fixtures and finishes. The king bed was excellent. The included breakfast is elegant, varied and absolutely delicious.
Our stay, quite simply, made us smile from start to finish.
It was just perfect for my family. There were lovely little touches like the soap dispensers in the shower and some mini rolls on arrival. The location was perfect for accessing Lancaster and the lower Lake District. The main bedroom was spacious with an r suite toilet and sink which was lovely. Towels were provided and tea, coffee and sugar were there. Kitchen was well stocked. Lovely artwork on the walls. Having Wi-Fi included was a bonus too.
Lovely place with some really good atmosphere. It's a shame the restaurant was closed for dinner at the time we stayed there, but the bar service was still available and we had a great time there. The rooms are really nice and modern, we absolutely loved the bathroom/shower too! The accommodation certainly exceeded our expectations and it made our romantic getaway to the Lake District even better.
This is a beautiful house which is maintained in excellent condition and very comfortable. The Host was great and made us feel very welcome. She made a lovely cooked breakfast and could not do enough for us. The value was very reasonable too. All in all if we needed to stay in that area again then we would be very happy to book this hotel again.
The caravan was exceptionally clean and well stocked. Lovely to see real bedding like at home, not the generic hotel whites. The owners were very attententive and checked we had managed to check in ok and fot everything we needed. Great location on site and also great base for venturing to Arnside, Silverdale and Windermere.
Keys where ready in the lockbox upon arrival.
The apartment was clean, tidy and welcoming. There where some basic amenities available (ie: tea, coffee, milk)
Staff where friendly and polite in the office when I asked about some of the local area and what there was to do
Very nice and beautiful resort... Resort Lake is beautiful... Best base for Lake district... You can have the best of both - Resort is self sufficient and when you want to go out - you can go to Lake District
Excellent set up here..
Hotel & Restaurant great.
The food was gorgeous.
Stayed in a one bed apartment which is very clean, and has everything you need .
Fabulous beer garden too.
& Dog Friendly.
The ambience, the lake the duck/goose .The house was full furnished and very clean and arranged .The tidiness.the Busstop which was right at the entrance of the hotel. The amenities were nice.
The location was good for us to be able to travel around to nearby attractions like Grange over Sands, Morecambe, Blackpool etc. or just to walk around the local area
Now that the main areas within the pub have been refurbished this represents a great improvement, especially the area now used for guest breakfast and the bar.
The food and eatery was very nice. Unusual having an annexe as the hotel rooms but great for privacy. Quiet and private. Close to the area I was visiting.
The apartment was fantastic and close to lovely walks by the marina and canal. Adjoined to the lovely Longlands hotel with exceptional food and service.
