Dent is a very special, unspoilt village, so much that we drove right past the pub without seeing it! It's in the middle of the village in narrow, cobbled streets. The village its self is very remote which adds to the charm . The visit was like a trip back to the 70's.
Set 27 km from Trough of Bowland, The Royal Hotel offers 3-star accommodation in Kirkby Lonsdale and has a shared lounge, a restaurant and a bar.

The hotel was lovely, staff very friendly and attentive. Rooms were great, the tea and coffee facilities were brilliant, l’occitane products in the bathroom was a real treat. The only thing was I wanted to open a window to let some fresh air in but I couldn’t. Breakfast in the restaurant was delicious and there was such a good choice.
Great for walking, plenty of choice straight from Sedburgh.
Great for walking, plenty of choice straight from Sedburgh. There are a number of places to choose to eat from, we ate at Smatts Duo Cafe which we thoroughly enjoyed, this cafe welcomes dogs a must for us and had a coffee at the Dog Gun coffee shop another dog friendly spot. We had an evening meal at the Red Lion, again very dog friendly and tasty food.

A pleasant town located on edge of Yorkshire dales and 20 miles from the lakes. Good location for walkers , beautiful villages ( Dent etc ) and river walks are nearby, also a superb craft mill & arts centre with weaving , quilting , wood turning and cafe.
Local shops in the town, very good chippy , butchers , grocers , the major supermarkets are in Kendal ( 20 mins car ). Excellent 2 bed property , massive comfy beds and vey good self catering facilities. The local produce was so good we ate in , but there are 3 pub/inns serving a range of meals within 10 minutes walk.
Very quiet especially at night though look out for low flying military planes in the afternoon ! Well suited to older couples , hikers and walkers but also for a family. We loved the place and want to go back again soon.

Gorgeous area, plenty of exploring to neighbouring towns and villages.
Tons of walks, short or long, beautiful village, but closes by 4pm. Gorgeous pubs but get booked in advance chippy with a cafe, owners away when we visited so it was closed, but we've been before and the food is great.
Good restaurants just outside the area, ie Barbon Restaurant and bar food. Another gorgeous little area around and about

I loved the shops and all the books
Easy to park and very easy access to beautiful walks
Shopping was great, no big ugly supermarket. Normal eating places not huge chains and no overbearing big highstreet names

The village is lovely.
The village is lovely. School is stunning, amazing views and walks. Limited places to eat that are not fine dining (about £30 per head) or a very basic pub. Italian restaurant has closed until further notice. Convenient SPAR with a reasonable range.
Absolutely loved the following: location, view from lounge window, the decor (took lots of ideas away with me ) beautiful quality bedding and towels, beautiful crockery and glasses and individual style. Loved the flowers (bought some twisted hazel to take home to try and recreate display) Loved, loved, loved the Sedbergh Lemon fragrance and toiletries (bought some from Zero Pantry shop below). The walks and shops within easy distance meant the car could have a weekend rest. I will be recommending to friends and I will also be staying again.
Lovely little farm cottage type accommodation. Cosy and warm, well equipped kitchen, loved the log burner on the dark winter evening when we stayed.
The village of Milthrop is really pretty and quiet but an easy walk to Sedbergh for shops cafes and restaurants. We ate at the Black Bull and are vegan, we loved it and would highly recommend, it is not the cheapest option but well worth it, very special. We walked to Dent and back on our second day which was great.
The Folly was perfect. We arrived tired after hiking on the Dales Way for 4 days. We chose Sedbergh and Folly to stay for 2 nights to relax and recoup. The Folly is very comfortable. It is right in the middle of everything. It was clean, comfortable, and a cool little space. Everything was perfect. We especially enjoyed grabbing dinner at the Haddock Paddock next door.
this is such a lovely place. I've stayed twice with my partner and both times have been amazing. Comfy beds, well stocked, decorated so nicely. Loved it! And the chippy nearby is the best chippy I've ever had haha. We drove from here to lake Windermere for a day out and it was a lovely drive. It was just a really really lovely stay.
gorgeous scenery, easy access to Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, clean, comfy, modern yet old ambiance, sheep and lambs so fun to watch scampering across the hill behind house, very well equipped. Would love to stay longer than one night. We had a cosy fire in the wood burner. Great shower. Great beds.
Charming place to stay. Really comfy bed, roomy accommodation, quirky and really indiviual but brilliantly decorated and furnished. Just loved it. Will be certain to book this place again if/when we're back in Sedbergh. Hostessn was really welcominmg too.
The apartment was very clean and cosy. Location was excellent. Area was beautiful. It is perfect place if you like hiking. There are small shops and one bigger Spar so you can buy all you need. There are lakes nearby, river, hills...
Rooms were lovely and the Hypnos beds were really very comfortable. The glass walled bathrooms were stylish and unique. The non-kids evening meal was really tasty. The staff were extremely pleasant. Overall, a really nice hotel.
Wonderful property in a quiet location close to Sedbergh. Clean and very comfortable. Modern shower/bathroom, kitchen appliances all looked new - though we didn’t use the kitchen as we were only staying 1 night.
Extremely well equipped, comfortable accommodation in a quiet convenient location. Right on the Dales way…perfect for a group of 4 walkers. Host had everything available that we needed. Cozy, and warm.
Right in the centre of Sedbergh, with lovely comfortable rooms, this was a treat for us in the middle of a cycling holiday. The food was outstanding and the staff delightful. Noting not to like!
Lovely country hotel with a great bar and restaurant. Plenty of outdoor seating too. Food was first class. Would certainly stay here again. Hotel is centrally located for the village as well.
The location was nice and quiet just as we like it but others may not. You were about 10 minutes from the nearest village. The property was lovely. Really clean and well stocked for your stay.
Virtually everything. Being in a secluded spot, it was very peaceful. The birds were a good attractions. Kitchen is wells maintained. There are trails nearby which we used and is breathtaking.
One of the most beautifully decorated house I’ve ever stayed at. Very homely and cosy. The hosts were extremely kind and helpful with any questions we had. Walking distance from Sedbergh.
