Very historical town, beautiful Abbey gardens, small museum. Nice shops, cobbled streets. Lots of other pretty towns and villages around, eg Lavenham. Country houses eg Ickworth, Thetford Forest to wander in. The area oozes with history

Bury St Edmunds is a beautiful Town with plenty of lovely places to visit. It has a very unspoilt, almost old fashioned feel to it. There are plenty of great Independent shops and also larger more recognisable high street chains. The Abbey Gardens are beautiful especially in the Summer time. You are spoilt for choice with the selection of cafes, restaurants and pubs to eat in. The Apex is a fantastic venue to watch a show in or just wander in and have a coffee.

Bury St Edmunds is a wonderfully historic English town with a slower pace than Cambridge. It’s definitely a really nice change from busy London. I would stay in Bury St Edmunds over Cambridge. Just take the train to Cambridge for a day and then come back to the calm of Bury St. Edmunds to enjoy your precious time minus the tourists.

Bury St Edmund’s is a very English town full of heritage.

Bury St Edmund’s is a very English town full of heritage. The Abbey Gardens and ruins are beautiful and well maintained. The town is full of small gourmet restaurants and quaint cafes. Giggling Squid restaurant is amazing! There are plenty of shops for buying gifts and a regular market on Wednesdays. You do not need a car to get around this town.

Bury St Edmunds is a lovely place to visit and the Abbey Gardens are lovely to walk round. We were seeing relatives, The Bushal was in an ideal place near the town. We went by train so no car and The Bushal was good for that. A good place to visit, and historical.

Bury St Edmunds is lovely, pretty Abbey Gardens and a mix of shops. We stayed at The Westgate Pub. £110 for 1 night. It was old, tatty with peeling paintwork, and a very suspect looking kettle. The owner was pleasant, but the rooms need a clean and updating. We will return to the town but choose accommodation better. Shame.

Really enjoyable stay, the property was clean, modern and centrally located. Graeme our host made everything very easy for us and pre-empted any queries we had about collecting keys, which are simply in a safe outside the property, and accessed via a code Graeme provided. We were staying over for work and this made a great alternative to the hotels in town. Loved the little courtyard garden, will hope to return in summer for optimal weather!

Staff friendly and welcoming. Hotel is genuinely dog friendly and the staff set up a table for us to eat in the bar area. Food was good both breakfast and dinner. Ample free car parking. Bar and lounge area are very pleasant with nice furniture and decor. Hotel grounds are well kept and the large grass area is good for dogs. Hotel location is good for town centre and easy access to major routes to other towns and countryside.

This is a pub very close to the town centre - we were there for a concert at the Apex, and it's just a short walk up the road. The room was almost a suite with a large bed, a shower room and a small area with tea/coffee facilities, seating and wardrobe. The breakfast was very good with a wide range of cooked options, cereals, toast, etc. Live music on Saturday night was a bonus.

From arrival in Reception, the staff were exceptionally good. the hotel decor and facilities are a very high standard, and it has a great relaxing atmosphere . The rooms are a good size, very comfortable and large well fitted en-suite. The restaurant caters to a high standard, both breakfast and dinner. The location is ideal with a five minute walk to the town centre.

Was very easy to check in. Breakfast was good, only had it one morning and the bacon was a little greasy however everything else I wanted was tasty and available. Room was very comfortable and spacious. Sainsbury's just across the road and hotel was close enough to the town centre. Free parking, just need to give number plate details at front desk

Nice country hotel with slightly old-school charm a short, 10-minute drive away from Bury St Edmunds and offering decent value for money. The room was clean, the hotel itself as well. It was also quiet, the view to the garden was nice, parking space was plentiful and the countryside surroundings nice (although we didn't get to go for a walk).

We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The pub is beautiful, the hotel rooms, pub, premises were spotlessly clean. The location is excellent right in the city centre. The staff were so kind and friendly (nothing was too much trouble). This was a last minute booking for us, we were so pleased that we will defo be returning.
