We have just the one large en-suite room and it's on the top floor of a 4 storey house. So, YOU ARE THE ONLY GUESTS, so it's very quiet & it's spacious. IMPORTANT! This accommodation is in a private home & is classified as a Guest House. It's not a hotel with lifts & reception. It is situated in a quiet area. Some aspects may be unsuitable for some:- - Not suitable for lots of luggage or large heavy luggage. - Not suitable for infirm people or smokers. - Strictly no check-in after 10.00 pm The house looks somewhat smaller than it actually is inside, and is like Doctor Who’s 'Tardis'! It was built around 1880, so around 140 years old, with 4 floors. The top floor is self-contained and is for guests, particularly families. It has 2 double beds, fitted wardrobes and cupboards, some is available for guests. It has a spacious, en-suite bathroom with a walk-in corner shower unit. One reviewer stated as follows:- "Great spacious tidy room with decent sized shower and very comfortable beds. Safe parking outside house in quiet area with several amenities close by. Storage for clothes ...much better than a lot of hotels we have used in the past...great value and friendly knowledgeable host”. We can take 4 adults or a family of 2 adults and 3 smaller children, or 2 adults and 2 teenagers under 18. We are near the M66 Manchester Orbital Motorway, 2 Metrolink Tram stops and buses almost at the end of the street. It’s only 20 minutes to Victoria Station by tram, buses take slightly longer depending on traffic. It’s 2 tram stops to Bury or 10 minutes or so by bus from the stop nearby. There is 32" Terrestrial TV & we provide an Amazon Firestick with Netflix, Prime etc. Free WIFI which runs at over 200 mps.
Hi there, My name is John and my partner for over 29 years is Chris. We both lived in Spain for over 8 years near Valencia and in China for over 2 years in Shenzhen. We both like travelling but have now settled down in Whitefield near Bury, Greater Manchester and lived here since 2013. We enjoy meeting people. Chris is a fully qualified IELTs and ESOL teacher and would love to host students who also have a requirement for English Lessons during their stay. Chris also used to speak fluent Spanish, but is a little rusty now. We hope you will give us the opportunity of meeting you and making your visit to Manchester enjoyable and memorable too. To help we can give you an info pack. John & Chris Please note that the whole house is no smoking and there are smoke alarms all over. This accommodation is the whole top floor, so for smokers you may find it inconvenient. This is because the only place to smoke is in the front garden or street. This means coming down and going back up two flights of stairs and unlocking and locking the door every time! Also, every time the front door opens there is a loud buzzer sounding. (Door alarm for advising us of entry/exit for security).
The house is in a quiet neighbourhood, even though the main road is a few hundred metres away. There are many local shops and takeaways close by too. The main Supermarket (Morrisons) is also 0.8 km away and a smaller one (Aldi) is about 0.4 km away. There are about 12 good restaurants and 3 pubs within walking distance. We are only a half mile away from the M66 Outer Manchester Orbital Motorway and 3 Miles from Bury Town Centre, with it’s famous Market held Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays. Within a one mile walk on side roads is the entrance to our beautiful countryside where you can go off in all manner of directions and always be totally in the countryside. These walks are by rivers, canals, several parks and a disused railway track. You can walk or cycle on these, all the way into Manchester or Bury and beyond. John walks these with Chris and also cycles them on his own. There is so much beautiful countryside so close to us. If you have a car, then we can direct you to beauty spots further afield. Heaton Park is 2 Tram stops away or a short bus ride from round the corner. All 135 buses run every 10 minutes, as do the trams. Victoria Station is only 18 minutes away by tram.
