An interesting, atmospheric small old town , good parking facilities , some small interesting shops , one or two eccentric pubs and a proper ironmongey shop ! The town originally had some light industry but now relies mainly on tourism.
The people we met were generally warm and friendly. English appeared to be the dominant language, though some spoken Welsh was heard.
The surrounding Mid Wales countryside is beautiful and the access roads are very good.

Llanidloes is a delightful town, with a good array of bakeries, cafes and other eating places. People ate very friendly. Very convenient for hafran forest, severn way and glyndwrs way. With lots of beautiful scenery around. However, Mondays are very quiet, with several places closed.

Nice little market town that is recovering from Covid closure. Wonderful butcher in the old market in Royal Oak St. With the River Severn running through the town there are some very lovely parts of the town. The Red Lion is a good pub with great beer and bar food. The Raj Mahal was super for curry. The Spar shop had everyday stuff and there are some super locally owned specialty shops and galleries. There are good EV chargers in the Mount St carr Park.

Lovely, surprising place.
Lovely, surprising place. Out in the middle of nowhere but with plenty of facilities and lots of independent shops and cafes. Beautiful countryside with the Severn running through the town. Lots of sheep - I love sheep :-)

Old-fashioned market town with lots of independent shops with friendly staff. A proper book shop! Some excellent places to eat or have coffee and close to other interesting towns - we like Machynlleth particularly for its mix of independent shops. The Minerva Arts Centre looked interesting but was not open during our stay.
Spectacular views! Amazing host, with the most yummy lemon drizzle cake. Eco facilities were excellent, even the compost toilet!
The bed was sooooo comfy & cosy I didn’t want to move in the morning, but managed to pull myself out to watch the sunrise & make friends with the sheep.
Only a 10 minute drive into Llanidloes, & 30 minutes to Hafren Forest which was stunning at this time of year.
Will definitely be returning in the summer!
The cottage is very near to the main street in Llanidloes with easy access to the river and surrounding valleys.
The kitchen has everything you need for a short stay. There is a washing machine and across the road a Launderette.
The wi-fi is good and fairly strong upstairs too. Constant hot water on tap and the house felt cozy in May as well.
There is a pub within 50 metres, a second 100 metres away :-)
An absolutely beautiful cottage in a fantastic location. Very comfortable and homely with everything you could possibly want or need.
We were lucky enough to meet Lisa the owner who couldn't have been more helpful.
Mid Wales is an overlooked area of Wales which has some stunning scenery and great walks. So stay in Llanidloes but more importantly stay in Dan Y Coed cottage!
Quality and style of the accommodation for the price was exceptional. The food was also excellent with good vegetarian and vegan options. Fridge in the room was also a nice addition with fresh milk or milk alternative provided. Quality toiletries in bathroom. Llanidloes is a lovely spot in the hills of mid Wales. Would like to come back someday.
What a fabulous B&B. Quiet, immaculately maintained and clean, my room was large with lots of light and stunning views of the lake. The breakfast was very good quality and the owners attentive and friendly. One of the best B&B/hotels I’ve stayed in in years and close to all-sorts of outdoor activities. The perfect place to get away from it all!
Super little apartment that’s clean, modern and comfortable. Located perfectly right in the heart of Llanidloes. Amazing host who kept in contact to make sure everything was ok for me. Little touches such as complimentary Welsh cakes made a lasting impression on a superb weekend stay.
A little gem hidden away above Llanidloes. Great hosts who although not originally from the area had a great knowledge of the history of the building and the area. Great breakfast will be back.
Didn't have breakfast.
Hotel conveniently placed, a comfortable room with good shower.
Very clear instructions sent on how to access hotel after hours due to late check in.
Lovely room, quiet location, excellent breakfast. The hosts were fine about us arriving just after 9pm, as we were having a meal with friends in Llanidloes first.
Great location and hotel. Lovely evening meal at the restaurant and breakfast in the morning(vegan). Friendly, welcoming staff. Would definitely visit again.
