Ty’n y gwynt is an end terrace house, 100 yards from the beach and opposite Criccieth Castle. It is the ideal place from which to explore Snowdonia and the Llyn peninsular.
I have been living here in wonderful north Wales for 15 years now running Ty'n y gwynt as 2 self catering flats. I love meeting my guests and helping them if necessary with books for walking routes or advice on where to visit and where to eat.
Criccieth, with its 13th century castle, is a lovely little town and is a 5 minute walk away, with coffee shops, gift, art and antique shops as well. The bus stops and train station are also a 5 minute walk. There are tennis courts and a crown green bowling green and miniature golf course, again only a short distance away.
Porthmadog is the terminus for the steam trains to Blaenau Ffestiniog or Caernarfon and the Welsh Highland Railway is a must for steam train enthusiasts. Porthmadog, 10 minute drive or by bus or train, is also the place to shop – from Lidl, Aldi, Tesco, and lots of individual shops.
Pwllheli is a 15 minute drive, also has a marina and an assortment of individual shops as well as outdoor markets on Wednesday and Sunday. The Italianate Village of Portmeirion is also a 15 minute drive in the opposite direction and is the place to go if you are a fan of the TV programe “The Prisoner”.
Rib-rides on the Menai Straits, a trip to Bardsey Island, an adrenaline filled trip on the biggest fastest zip wire can all be reached easily.
If you like castles we have Caernarfon, Harlech, Penrhyn all close by and garden enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with gardens.
