Location is fantastic. Communal rooms very comfy and homely. Lovely warm welcome from Sophie. To be honest, for the price I expected a TV and a larger bed. Bed was a double, a bit saggy, but good quality linen. Curtains had what looked like moth holes in them. Shabby chic?? Dinner and breakfast were delicious and I thought having communal dining was brilliant! Overall I would recommend.

Uig Lodge was built in 1876. It sits high above Uig Sands on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis, with what has been described as 'the most breath-taking view in all of Britain'. The Lodge is a home from home where you will be looked after like part of the family. In recent years the lodge has been refurbished to a high standard and the accommodation is very comfortable. We have 3 double ensuite bedrooms and 4 twins and a single. We also have a salmon fishery for guests who would like to try fly-fishing. We have also re-instated a 9 hole 'pitch and put' golf course which begins just yards from the front door and is great fun for the keen or amateur golfer. There are over big white sandy beaches in Uig so plenty to choose from. Golden Eagles, Sea Eagles, otters, sheep, lambs, geese, swans, cuckoo's, corncrakes and as many other bird species as you can imagine have all been seen from without evening leaving the lodge!
The lodge is run by husband and wife team, Dickon and Elly Green. We live next 200yards away with three small children under 5 and run a salmon smokery onsite where guests can visit and learn about the art of smoking. We also have the excellent Eric whop has been cooking at the lodge for over 15 years and looks after guests excellently. He is also full of local knowledge and speaks many languages.
Uig is a unique community, perched on the edge of the Atlantic on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis. A rich cultural and historical landscape which would take you years to explore. We have an excellent tea room and museum just 2 miles away and a well-stocked community shop 1/2 a mile from us. There are a couple of excellent places to eat close-by too. The famous 'Uig Chessmen' were found on the sands below the lodge. SeaTrek are a boat company operating from Miavaig harbour, 2 miles away, and they run regular day trips to St Kilda through the summer. A once in a lifetime must-see destination.
