Fully refurbished in 2017, this bright basement apartment is part of our Victorian family property in the West Hill area, a designated conservation area just a few minutes walk away from Brighton station. We have recently renovated the entire apartment, bringing a lighter contemporary finish to complement the Victorian structure, a mix of old and new. The apartment is entirely self-contained with it's own private access (down a few stairs) and a rear courtyard. Although it is only a short walk to the beach and all the attractions this vibrant city has to offer, it remains a very quiet area popular with families. The immediate neighbourhood also has a choice of restaurants, bars, cafés and convenience stores. We are usually around should you need any advice about the area or help during your stay. Please note Brighton is a hilly city. The apartment is at the top of a hill which some guests may find to be an issue.
We have lived here since 2002. Our children have grown up here, and continue to do so as teenagers now. We both work locally in the City, in the design and therapy industries, having moved down from London as many do. Brighton is a great City in which to live as a family - creative, liberal, dynamic, small enough to walk everywhere, and surrounded by national park and the sea.
The immediate area was developed in the 1850s after the railway link to London was completed. The apartment is almost at the top of the West Hill, where once a windmill stood. The neighbourhood is remarkably quiet given its proximity to all the main attractions the city has to offer, and only a couple of minutes walk from the bustle of the station. Within a few minutes walk the Seven Dials area has a selection of bars, shops and restaurants. There is also Bright News a few metres away which stocks a considerable range of goods - a mini supermarket really. The North Laine, with it's quirky shops, as well as wide choice of places to eat and drink is only a 5-10 minute walk away. Most of the city centre attractions are within a 10-15 minute walk from the apartment. The beach and the i360 are also a short 10 minute walk away. There is a park nearby with a children's play area and tennis courts for hire. The area is also well served by buses and trains to help explore further.
