Large spacious room (No. 1) with seating area, desk and wardrobe. Large very comfortable bed. View over road junction (quite quiet) and the church grounds - very attractive. Central location so ideal for wandering around shops, museum and the waterfront. Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful and greeted us like old friends after a couple of days. Breakfasts were excellent and the evening meals superb. We were sad to leave after 7 days!

Entrance to grounds is through a Gatehouse,we couldn't see any signage to indicate direction to hotel on our visit. Hotel itself is very elegant with lovely interiors with period furniture and ornate ceilings. Extensive garden grounds with lake and golf course. Rooms huge . Whole hotel was very well decorated as far as I could see.

Gatehouse of Fleet is my favourite holiday break.

Gatehouse of Fleet is my favourite holiday break. Galloway lodge serves fantastic coffee and food. Gatehouse has scenic and relaxing walks. Cream of Galloway is a must to visit for walks, activities and delicious ice cream. Friendly town with lovely shops - Bluebell Interior Designs and Apothecally are great for ideas.

Comfortable and welcoming cottage with everything we needed.

Comfortable and welcoming cottage with everything we needed. We loved the space, and the decor which included a lit Christmas Tree, and the kitchen was well-appointed and had a dishwasher too. The welcome pack had delicious cookies along with excellent tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and milk. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable...everything was spotless. We had easy walking access to local shops and delicious food choices. Our hostess was helpful and available...she provided a well-written book to answer our questions. We highly recommend this cottage and would welcome a return someday!

The village is very pretty and well healed.

The village is very pretty and well healed. Properties are well looked after and freshly painted. The small and varied shops and visitor centre was interesting. Well worth a stop and pleasant walking to be had here for all the family including your four legged friends.

The property was exactly as shown in photos and described.

The property was exactly as shown in photos and described. It was lovely and clean. All kitchen items were M&S and the decor was gorgeous. Everything you could want was there and the layout was excellent for spending time with family and friends. We could all really relax and there was plenty of places to walk from the house and it’s only a few minutes drive to the A75 making it an excellent location. A great place to go is to the red deer park, take carrots and apples to feed the deers. Castle Douglas has lots of lovely shops and kipford has a lovely walk too. If you stay indoors they Great technology including smart Tv and nest heating controls and a lovely hot tub. The property is lovely and warm and has a wood burner too. Kitchen fully kitted out including dishwasher, washing machine and a lovely big cooker and oven. Definitely recommend and would definitely stay again in a heartbeat. The hosts were also communicative before arriving and very helpful. Lovely charming gem of a place.

Keys were in an obvious place, and owner directed us to property. Profile of this property doesn't do it justice in images. Amazing unspoiled views for the cottage out across the hills. Quiet and tranquil and outstanding super fast wifi. Spotlessly clean, and very well equipped. Walks straight from property out onto open fields and only 10 mins walk down hill to Gatehouse of Fleet. 10/10 on all fronts

We had originally booked another hotel but left due to massive deficiencies and ended up being completely satisfied here! The Masonic Arms Gatehouse is a really tastefully designed hotel with an excellent restaurant. Anna was very welcoming and provided us with the best breakfast and valuable info on places of interest. Overall, a great stay, we felt very comfortable and will be happy to come back!

The superior room was huge and exceptionally clean. It has lots of light with large bay windows. The bathroom was excellent. It has a very big walk in power shower and a beautiful modern bath. It looked brand new. Super king bed and large wall mounted tv. It is a very short walk to the Main Street of Gatehouse of Fleet. Lovely breakfast both mornings of our stay.

Everything: the cottage is simply wonderful, furnished with everything, ideally clean beyond expectations, located on the hills just above Gatehouse of Fleet (2 min drive, 5 min walk) with an open view on the sea coast. Peace, nature and a true feeling of being in Scotland! Special thanks to the house owners for their generous and kind reception..

Lots of variety and choice for breakfast as well option to eat as little or as much as you like. Food quality very good. Bar prices also ok for this standard of hotel. Spacious hotel with lots of options to sit and relax. Although I didn’t use them there were good leisure facilities. Staff were friendly, polite and welcoming.

Gatehouse of Fleet is a beautiful quiet location, and the Ship Inn was a wonderful place to stay. Our room was spacious, modern and clean - as were the public areas of the hotel. Breakfast was tasty and there is plenty of on road parking outside the hotel. Loved it.
