Woodbrooke has welcomed guests since 1903. The oldest part of the house dates back to 1830 when it was built by the founder of Birmingham University Josiah Mason. It later became the home of the Elkingtons and Cadburys, who gave the house and gardens to the Religious Society of Friends (or Quakers) in 1903. Since then, we have offered a varied programme of courses for both Quakers and non-Quakers, as well as meeting rooms and bedrooms for anybody wanting a peaceful and nourishing experience. We aspire for Woodbrooke to be more welcoming, nourishing and inspiring than any other guest house. Visitors stay here for its peace and quiet, its ten acres of organically-managed gardens and the fantastic location from which to explore Birmingham and beyond.
