Once an important medieval trading centre, Norwich remains a popular shopping destination. The Chapelfield centre is the newest addition, whereas a historic shop sells the city’s most famous export: Colman’s Mustard. Castle Mall is underground, in a hill topped with a keep, part of the 12th-century castle founded by William the Conqueror.
Dating to the same era is the large cobbled square housing a 6-day market. It was said that Norwich had a church for every week, and while that is no longer true, over 30 medieval churches still exist. The cathedral was built using stone from Normandy and boasts England’s 2nd largest cloisters and 2nd tallest spire.
Colourful medieval façades line Elm Hill and the Guildhall is another fine example of the period. Half-timbered Dragon Hall was a trading hall, while St Andrew’s and Blackfriars Halls constitute England’s most intact friary. The 14th-century Cow Tower sits by the River Wensum upstream from Pulls Ferry, the train station and Norwich City FC.
Reportedly, Norwich once had a pub for every day, and today’s traditional inns and modern bars are certainly popular with the student population. Other entertainment options include the Theatre Royal and Playhouse.

Interesting city, plenty of places to visit. Many options for eating out.
The Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell was excellent.
The free tour of Norwich Cathedral was very good and informative. The Cathedral Refectory was great for a good quality coffee and cakes.

We loved that it was a walkable town. It had many options to keep us entertained...and to keep us fed !
There was only one area that we walked thru that was a little sketchy...otherwise we felt very safe walking around!

Norwich is more than "fine" - it has character and personality. Little shops you won't find elsewhere including one of the best wine shops in the country (Harper Wells), glorious church buildings (many now in other uses), good pubs and restaurants, theatres large and small, two cathedrals and a castle, a river offering boating and riverside walks, an outdoor covered market... I could go on. Visit!

As we lived in Norwich for 15 years and were returning to vist friends and family, we know that Norwich is a lovely city with options to shop from the mall to the market place. It has many good places to visit, including for children, For adults, plenty of options to eat and drink and it still has a lively music scene.

Norwich is a hidden gem, tucked away in the eastern part of England, with lots of history (The Castle, The 2 superb Cathedrals, and the many parts of the town that are - just very ancient and well preserved) The pubs are great too, and the shops are not all high street ones that you would expect, but small, carefully run shops, waiting to be found. I would certainly visit again
We stayed for a university visit, so we wanted to be accessible to both the city centre and the university. This was ideal, with a level flat walk to the city centre in under 10 minutes. The university was a 15 minute drive. The hotel was extremely warm and comfortable, with exceptionally courteous and helpful staff. We slept very well and the breakfast was good. The rooms were lovely and spacious and very warm and comfortable considering the time of year.
Finding a hotel so close to Norwich city centre with ample parking was ideal!
The staff that greeted me when checking in and out were so polite, helpful, and friendly.
The room was great and had everything I needed and more (tea making facilities, microwave, fridge). The shower was modern with great water temperature and pressure and the bed very comfortable.
I was impressed the tv had access to Netflix etc.
I liked how close the hotel is to the station and city centre. It’s on a little side road so is quiet and I wasn’t bothered by any train or traffic noise. The room was basic but very clean - perfect for me as I was using it only as a base. The hosts are lovely people too. Some of the most welcoming I’ve met. I will definitely continue to stay here in my trips to Norwich.
The main building is beautiful and looks quite impressive from the outside as it used to be a big estate. The hotel has a decent swimming pool with a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi, which guests can use without additional charge. Breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. The hotel has beautiful grounds and a golf club. Overall I think it's good value for money.
As the name suggests the hotel is right by the train station which was great for us. Also only 5/10 min walk to the city centre. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Also given it was brutally cold this weekend it was nice to be able to whack the radiators up and get the room nice and warm. The fellas who run it were also polite and friendly.
Great little apartment, had everything you'd need for a short stay. Easy to access. Location was perfect for us, and a fab little coffee place at the end of the road was a bonus. Host was great at communicating. Would definitely stay again when/if we visit Norwich again.
Great location to explore Norwich . The hotel is a real gem we had a one night stay with family and very much enjoyed our

Lovely building, room was clean and comfortable with plenty of storage. We also liked the lounge area, a cosy venue to chat with friends during the NYE ball. Great location for shopping in Norwich.
Spacious , comfortable room in prestigious city centre building - everything is an easy walk from here .
Staff friendly and helpful.
Great to have central hotel with parking .
Very welcoming. The hotel is well positioned for visiting Norfolk broads, Norwich and several NT properties. Good value accomodations and breakfast. We had a lovely time.
Very pleasant place to stay, homely, not anonymous hotel, friendly, courteous staff. Food is excellent. Have stayed before and will stay again. This is a little gem
