Great lounge areas, friendly staff and wide breakfast range. Super value for money.

The location was beautiful and lots of great walks nearby. It's a national Trust property so gardens were beautiful. There were outdoor games and activities, we played badminton in the evening. The food was great and the staff we friendly.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The building was impressive and atmospheric, and right next to a big hill that my daughter and husband enjoyed climbing (and more hills they'd have liked to climb if we'd stayed longer) and a field with sheep and rabbits. The breakfast was nice and there was a reasonable amount of variety.

Even though it was remote, it was in a beautiful location. There were some excellent walks all in easy reach of the hostel. It was just a shame that the weather was the way it was. The layout was lovely. The room was big enough for all six of us, with very plump pillows and think duvets. The staff were helpful. The facilities were pleasant. The self catering kitchen was stocked with all the utensils you could need. The grounds and the building itself are gorgeous, so all well worth a visit. Especially if you are on a walking holiday.

The hostel was is a beautiful location with many walking trails around it. The dinner menu was varied and cooked beautifully. Very down to earth and tasty. Our room was small but comfortable as we each had our own bottom bunk. THe shower and toilet attached to room was excellent.

Set in a Gothic mansion, YHA Ilam Hall has 84 acres of beautiful parkland, a traditional restaurant and stylish lounge. The YHA is located in the Peak District, and offers views over Dovedale.

The YHA Ilam Hall has dormitory rooms, most containing bunk beds, with shared bathroom facilities. The magnificent Victorian building also houses a sumptuous lounge with a TV and games area.

The on-site restaurant serves traditional evening meals and light lunches. The cafe-bar offers light snacks and beverages, and there is also a kitchen for self-catering guests.

YHA Ilam Hall Hostel is a National Trust property, and the River Manifold runs through the beautiful grounds. Alton Towers is a 15-minute drive away, and Chatsworth House is a 30-minute drive.

    No sorry, no rooms have interconnecting doors. we do have 5 and 6 bed rooms though that could accommodate your whole family.

    No, Children under 12 cannot stay in dormitories regardless. You would need to book a private room for you both.

    there are no pubs in Ilam itself, the nearest pub is The Okeover Arms in Mapleton which is a 5-10 minute drive. There are more pubs in Ashbourne which is 7 miles away.
