The very friendly helpfulness of Diane the manager made us feel really welcome. Everything was just as we wanted. The local walks were terrific. We wanted to explore some wild north Pennine countryside and Langdon Beck is ideally situated for that. Diane directed us for a walk on our second day and we valued her local knowledge. The hostel's drying room did its job perfectly and the walk down to the pub for a meal in the evening was simple and short.

  • Do you have planned events or activities?

    No, however we can provide information about walking/cycling routes and places to visit. It might be worth contacting The Bowlees Visitors Centre or Killihop Lead Minining Museum to see if they have any events on if you have dates in mind for your visit to Upper Teesdale. There's also Raby Castle, The Bowes Museum, The Beamish Museum, Hamsterley forest. Lots to see and do locally and some amazing hiking to be done to our doorstep.

  • Is it quiet at night?

    Yes. One guest recently commented to me that it was so quiet at night that she thought she had ear plugs in!

YHA cannot accept bookings for 16 people or more. Any such bookings will be canceled by YHA.
The maximum length of stay is 14 consecutive nights. Following any stay of 14 nights, guests may not stay in any YHA accommodations for at least seven nights.
