the location is incredible- overlooking whitby abbey... 199 steps down to whitby town. It felt a privilege to stay in a historic listed building. Access to free parking just outside the YH made arrival and booking in easy/ stress free. Never stayed in a YHA before but it was really nice. A nice communal feeling with other guests due to shared facilities such as a tv lounge, dining area, conservatory and a communal kitchen. We also received a free family pass to access whitby abbey and the museum. We would definitely consider staying in this and other YHA facilities.

Set in a stunning location next to Whitby’s famous Gothic Abbey, this historic building offers beautiful views of the coast. YHA Whitby offers extensive gardens, 24-hour access, and a restaurant.

YHA Whitby is located on Whitby’s headland, and the cobbled quayside can be reached at the bottom of the nearby steps. Whitby’s center and rail station are 15 minutes’ walk away. Whitby’s sandy beaches can be reached in a short, 5-minute walk.

The majority of rooms at this YHA hostel contain bunk beds. Guests can relax in the TV lounge or the separate games room and there is a nearby tea room operated by YHA Whitby next to the abbey. There is also luggage storage for guests.

Meals are served in the restaurant, while guests can also enjoy the on-site cafe and dining room. There is a self-catering kitchen provided.

    After checking-in, guests are provided with an electronic key-card which as well as giving access to guest rooms, also gives 24 hour access to the hostel.

  • Could you please advise me more about the parking, we are a small group who enjoy travelling on our motorcycles. Is the parking area close and accessible from the accomodation. Many thanks

    Hi, We have limited free parking available in our car park and a space set aside for motorbikes. We would recommend contacting us the day before arrival so we can try to keep the space for your bikes only.

  • Is it quiet at night?

    Our property sits on the East Cliff with amazing views of Whitby, as we are out of town we have no traffic noise close to us. It is a very secluded location but a very short walk into the town and all the key tourist activities
