Location was exceptional, inside Conwy Castle walls. Nearby food at Erskinger Arms was exceptional, and perhaps the best food we had on our trip. House itself was clean and efficiently laid out.

Welcome to York House situated in the historic medieval town of Conwy. York House in the 19th Century was named Station House. It was the home of the towns police chief who worked in the police station across the street. During the second world war the police station was closed during the war and the house was renamed York House. When the station re-opened at the end of the war the name York House remained. Conwy is a town rich in history, which much of it still preserved within the walls and traditional structures of its buildings. In the heart of it is the mighty 13th-century castle, whose walls encapsulate this remarkable medieval town. Surrounded by lush Welsh countryside and watched over by the mighty mountains of Snowdonia, it’s a most beautiful place to visit. Conwy Quay is host to a number of amenities and is a particularly stunning place to visit during the warm summer months. Whether you’d prefer to sit with a refreshing drink outside of the cosy quayside pub, take an exciting boat tour around the coastal area or hike upon the many surrounding mountains – it’s all possible in the quaint town of Conwy.
Shwmae Croeso! Hello Welcome! My name is Stephanie and I was born and raised in Conwy. I hope you have a wonderful stay at York House. I have travelled the world and I believe North Wales is a hidden gem.
1. Conwy is among the most popular destinations within the whole of Wales, unsurprisingly, the castle, scenery and historical interest are stated as some of the main reasons to visit. 2. The language of Conwy is ‘officially’ Welsh, however – English is widely spoken and heard in the town. 3. Conwy Castle was built during the years of 1283 and 1289, led by Edward I of England. 4. The oldest structure is indeed the town walls, however, the church within Conwy is widely recognised as the oldest standing building. 5. The Conwy suspension bridge, built in 1826 was designed by Thomas Telford to fit with the style of the castle. 6. The Smallest House in Great Britain is officially located in Conwy. The cosy home measures up at 3.05m x 1.8m and can be visited on the Conwy Quayside, overlooking the river, harbour and quayside.
