United KingdomThe building and gardens are really pleasant. It was really quiet (although we were warned that if there is a wedding on it is noisier). We were visiting university and it is really close, but it is a way outside the city centre (20 minutes walk).

It's a two-minute drive to the designer outlet, and there's a park-and-ride in the designer outlet: the parking is free and it's cheap to get a return ticket to the city. Parking in the city is a bit costly, so park-and-ride is definitely recommended. The hotel offers great breakfast, a continental buffet as well as hot meal on order. The warm meals are great. Free parking.

Best Western York Pavilion Hotel has 2 courtyard , a fine bistro, a bar serving local specialties, and a restaurant for fine dining. There are lounges where you can read the daily papers, enjoy a morning coffee, and relax beside an open log fire on chilly winter evenings.
There are brilliant walks right from the hotel along the bank, and a 30-minute walk will take you to the old city. Fulford Golf Club and York University are both just a 5-minute drive away.
Couples in particular like the location – they rated it 8.5 for a two-person trip.

Originally the hotel was owned by John Barry's family, so has always been associated with music and the theatre and cultural life of York. The Pavilion offers the best of both worlds - close to the country side, yet only 10 minutes from the heart of the historic city of York.
