It's a quiet, small village, great place for families mostly, clean water and beach, no big variety in cafe-restaurants unfortunately or activities you can engage, beautiful landscape, you can enjoy both mountain and seaside at the same time (y).

Ok if you want to see a bit of the seaside and take a swim...
Ok if you want to see a bit of the seaside and take a swim but the beach is stoney, the handful of bars and restaurants are average (notable exception the funky Cafe Frida at the south end of the beach....great food and bo-ho atmosphere), the main road to Turkey runs behind the beach, is noisy, smelly and dangerous....Batumi is a fun place and nearby so not a bad option if you want easy access to town but not be in the thick of it...though you need to watch out for taxi and marshrutka drivers who will rip you off. We paid 30 gel on our first day for a taxi from town to Kvariata and 11 gel for the same trip two days later.

It is amazing small city with a clean sea and not far from Batumi (about 20 minutes ride in cab) We liked very much restaurant CHKERI with traditional Georgian food and amazing folk musician who also dance. Food was amazing, not expensive, and atmosphere in this restaurant was very inviting to came there again and again, excellent place, food, service, music and atmosphereYuliaUnited States of America - 8.0Scored 8.0
A quiet stretch of beach near the Turkish border.
A quiet stretch of beach near the Turkish border. Green backdrop and good water. You can make walks in the hill and forest behond Kvariati and Batumi is only a short taxi ride away. Shortage of decent eating places but Frida's (on the beach) is OK. Their staff also understands (a minimal amount) of english.

seaside with long (stony) beach at the foot of green hills. one can choose hotels in front of beach, and others who don’t mind a bit of walking can opt for hill hotels (side hill hotels offer fantastic views of shore, the sea, the town and hills altogether - you may travel all around the world and still not find anything like that).

Great for the beach and to go to Batumi, but minor infrastructure itself. Easy to go by bus / marschrutka to Batumi, 20-40 min depending on traffic. Guest House Achi Is an extraordinary place to stay incl. breakfast.
