Averto Avali is now a stylish, spacious, comfortable, waterfront apartment. Views from the large front windows are across the water to Agios Nicholas' Venetian fortress and a rear terrace incorporates a barbecue and sitting area. The name Averto AVali was given to this old mansion so as to honor the island where the house stands for more than two hundred years. So the words Averto Avali come from the old local dialect of the people of Paxos and represent: Averto(''right in front'') and Avali(''Bay'') which shows the exact location of the house right in front of the old port of Gaios. Built during the Venetian occupation of Paxos in the early 18th Century, Averto Avali was home to the British Governor from 1815 to 1864, when Paxos and the other Ionian islands were ceded to and reunited with Greece. Access to the apartment from the port is 800 meters. Pick up option is available on request.

The dramatic entrance to the old port of Gaios has the pine-forested island of Agios Nicholas on one side and on the other side a waterfront of small fishing boats and yachts moored in front of just a few café bars. In between the café bars is the gated entrance to arguably the most impressive building in Gaios: Averto Avali as seen in the pictures. Gaios square, the pedestrianized side streets of shops and the waterfront tavernas are just a 2 minute stroll. A beach is a 5 minute stroll. A hired boat can be moored directly below the apartment - an ideal way to explore the coastline of coves and beaches and to get to the sandy beaches of AntiPaxos (a speedboat shuttle service to AntiPaxos is just a 3 minute walk away). The close vicinity to everything gives guests the chance to fully abandon all means of transport which is the ideal for complete relaxation. Public Transport(local bus) runs from 09:00 am to 10:00 pm from Gaios to Loggos and Lakka which are the main villages of the island. Of course you can stop in between in case you want to walk through smaller villages and access beautiful beaches. Boat rentals and car rentals are accessible in a walking distance.
