It should be noted that purse-snatching gangs are prevalent in Athens, particularly in the metro. In this context, the M3 line is distinguished as the "Pick Pocketing Line". It is strongly advised that you take appropriate personal safety precautions. Remember that the police are unable to handle this situation, which has grown into a serious problem.

Highly recommend going in low season.
Highly recommend going in low season. It was amazing not being so crowded as summer. Athens is really an awesome place to just walk around and get lost in. There is so much to do here but we were really tired after 3 days of walking everywhere. We stayed a total of 4 days. I think it totally comes down to travel preference but I would have gone to Delphi or Meteora for a day in retrospect.

Lapped acropolis several times (little alleys looking interesting) and hilly.
Athens sports bar tiny and not a lot of options for football.
Often felt ignored by some in hospitality but very welcomed by others. Quickly served food but slow for drinks and paying.
If I was to go again, I would stay in march (24 centigrade), near beach with nightlife and get the tour bus (which run every hour till 6/7) to do tourist stuff

Great public transportation options and we found that visiting the museums, countless historic and archaeological sites and enjoying the Greek cuisine are the reasons to visit Athens. The remainder consists of traffic, and unimaginable concrete urban sprawl, void of architecture or green spaces.

The temples and museum is a must!
The temples and museum is a must! But dont buy the hop-on-hop-off bus, its a waste of time and money as you will only see buildings, and houses. You will only feel that youre riding a shuttle bus rather than a sight seeing tour bus.

A incredible city!
A incredible city! My partner and I spent 7 days including travel days. There is something to see on every corner. We tried a different restaurant every night and didn’t find a bad one. We also found Artemis petissery for ice cream and visited every night for a different flavour.
We did all the main attractions, there are excellent multi pass tickets available from “get your guide” that get you in to all the main attractions.
We also took trips to the coast. EDEM is a great hub for this. Poseidons cafe is a lovely beach front cafe with great food and drink. We visited Kalamaki beach and Glyfada to swim in the sea. The public transport is excellent and you can be anywhere fast.
We also took a sunset trip to the temple of Poseidon, something I would highly recommend! It is incredible and key tours run an excellent trip.
Take a walk to Plaka for the shops. There are loads of wonderful small market shops and charming rustic buildings to see.
All in all I would highly recommended a visit if you have never been.
Exceptional accommodation which exceeded our expectations. We both agreed that this was one of the best places we stayed during our visit to Greece. Clean, comfortable, spacious, fantastic view of the acropolis, and the host left very clear and friendly instructions. She was also easy to communicate with. Apartment was also in a great location with Hadrian's Library just next door, with shops and restaurants just downstairs (no issues with noise though). We wished we could stay longer. Definitely our pick for our next visit to Athens!
My family is from Greece and before we went to stay with them, we decided to be pampered at a luxury resort in the heart of Athens. We stayed at the King George before and now Hotel Grande Bretagne. Both are great properties. Grande Bretagne is a beautiful hotel- luxury at its finest. Staff was amazing and accommodating. Everyone was very thoughtful and friendly towards my 2 1/2 year old son who was treated like a prince. Good location, easy access to the metro, restaurant on the top of the hotel has amazing views.
Blazer Suites is best accommodation we had in Athens and possibly best experience so far in the capital of Greece. We arrived very early, about 8 am and our room was ready. We slept in huge comfortable bed with variety of pillows and suite was very nicely equipped with everything. The hotel provides excellent breakfast, room service and the pool zone is nice and “frenchy”. The main treasure is Blazer team. They really care to provide excellent service and this is what you never regret you payed for.
This was the best hotel ! Better then some 5 star hotels I have stayed at before !!! The rooms are spacious! Excellent location! There was a coffeemaker in the room. The front desk lady was very friendly and helpful. She gave me a map with directions to the best restaurants,
Pools and beaches! The rooftop with acropolis view was breathtaking. I stayed for 4 nights and time flew by so quickly. Amazing experience! I would recommend it to everyone visiting athens.
Very good location and facilities but we loved the most was the excellent staff starting from George at the front desk when we checked in. We had requested an early checking because we reached the hotel by 11am. We got the room by 12. George even offered us a complimentary breakfast while we waited which was much needed after our long flight to Greece . Will definitely stay here again when we come back .
This was my first time in Greece and heard about the Art Suites korai through a group of women on a cruise. We booked the hotel and we enjoyed our stay. We had a great time with the staff service and the hotel surroundings. Paired with great drinks and restaurant food we were entertained all night long. Highly recommend this hotel but also most definitely recommend the restaurant of the hotel.
We were very glad to have booked Greece U Around. It’s a great (modern, aesthetically pleasing) apartment, great location, and exceptional value, and the manager and housekeeper are instantly responsive (not that we really needed anything, as the apartment is so well-appointed) – just a text or call away. Next time I’m in Athens, I’ll consider myself fortunate if Greece U Around is available.
Omiros Hotel in center of Plaka, near all the attraction you need to visit. This hotel you can reach either by taxi or walking distance from syntagma if you decide to have the shuttle from the airport. Clean Room nice people and the value for money is perfect. The breakfast has no big choice but decent specially you are in Athens and you can enjoy the food all day while walking.
Staff were so helful
Room was nice
Modern refurbed hotel
Close to Metro at Ominia. About 20mns on metro to National football stadium as we were there for Ireland v Greece.
Street area was a bit scruffy but no different to most of Athens city centre. Secure in the sense that the Police staion is next door.
Dislikes are hopefully constructive and would use this hotel again
I stayed here a second time when I travelled back from an island to Athens on my last night in Greece. It was easy to get here from the port (1 train to Omonia stn) and then to the airport (1 train via Monastiraki station). They upgraded my room for me which was lovely and acknowledged that I had visited before. The staff are very friendly.
It's a great price for my budget.
Top notch luxury hotel in the area, with very spacious lobby with multiple seating areas, bar and unique rooftop views to the Athens sightings. Great bed, super comfortable and stylish. Food at the great hotel's restaurant was great and abundant. Reasonable prices for autumn so I will highly recommended to my friends who want to visited Greece for vacations.
Room larger than expected. Nice shower and comfortable bed. First hotel we stayed at in Greece that provided a washclotch, which was great considering how much we sweated. We arrived after reception closed and the hotel was very responsive about the process for late check-in, which was greatly appreciated. Good breakfast also. Can recommend this hotel.
Everything - the staff, and especially Zoe, were all so helpful and courteous; the location was fabulous; the room was a wonderful size for us - roomy, clean, and all the amenities you would want in a hotel. We have already recommended the V1935 to our friends who are talking about going to Greece. We would give them 5 Stars! 😀
The hotel is new and very clean. The roof terrace was a lovely surprise. The service was excellent - by far the best during our trip to Greece. The rooms are compact but wasn’t an issue for us and the bed was very comfortable. The view from the room (505) was great! We will stay here again if we re-visit Athens
A warm and friendly, English speaking staff, clean, quiet hotel…excellent location (for going into Athens or traveling on to central & northern Greece.) Walking distance to a nice supermarket, 15 min walk to many restaurants. Very nice patio/porch seating for coffee or cocktails, in a garden space.
This was our first time to visit Greece and in Ariston Hotel were treated to a Wonderful staff, comfortable accommodations, great views of athen, tasty and plentiful breakfast, and centrally located to the city metro to acropolis only 10 min, 10/10 would recommend! Loved it!
Overall, this was probably the nicest hotel I have stayed in Greece. IT was an amazing location, beautiful and so so so comfy. The breakfast was amazing, the ruins, the turtles, THE ROOFTOP POOL/ RESTAURANT. 1000/10!
