A beautiful little Island just a short ferry trip from Athens with access to other Islands like Hydra.
Lot's of small shops, mini-marts, restaurants etc -plenty of choice to eat out.
Lovely walks - if you hire a car you can visit the main places in a day or two.

Poros is one of the most underrated islands of Greece, indeed. It's very small but beautiful, serene, calm , clean, quite and picturesque. Only 1hr 15minutes ferry travel from Piraeus port of Athens. There are lots of restaurants, caffe, supermarkets, shops. All types of food are available there including Greek food specially. People are welcoming, friendly and very generous. If needed laundry shops are there too. The clock tower is an added area where people can go see the entire island from bird's view. It's not so expensive like Mykonos and Santorini. But one can get the flavours of Santorini or Mykonos there. As a whole it's worth visiting Poros.

Calm, non touristy. Good food.
Calm, non touristy. Good food. Easy to walk or get a cab anywhere. We were off season (late September) and came by ferry for a few days break from Athens but have been before in high season in our yacht and it was good then too. Ate at Dimitris and Apagio Tavern, great meat and fish at the market, good coffee and lunch at clock cafe, good bakery and great ice cream and helpful pharmacy in the square by the meat and fish market.

Poros is an authentic, laidback Greek island, which also happens to be a major stop-off for yacht charters and flotillas. But, if you're not a yachtie, (we're not) they don't spoil the feel too much.
Only a few paces away from the yacht berths, you can find ouzeries where they still give you proper, free mezes with your drink, as you watch the old boys play backgammon and shoot the breeze. Or you can relax in more upmarket, restaurants and bars - but you've come to Greece, be more Greek! If you're in the square boasting Destino's Kafeneion, the locals' bar next door and Pavlou Shop which sells "plumbing fixtures, beach equipment and church supplies" you're in the right place.

Small but such a beautiful island!
Small but such a beautiful island! green and blue combination! Loved our walks down town at night with the great restaurants and the narrow streets up the hill to the tower Clock to watch the sunset.
We got there by car and took the ferry from Galatas (4-5 mins) to get across.
Favorite beach - "Love" Beach!!

Poros island is fabulous, the views are breathtaking and the geographical features are unique with many small bays and pine-trees that reach the coast. It is really near the Peloponnese peninsula and you can have small trips there e.g. going to Epidaurus or Methana. However, the island is small and the beaches are not sandy. It is worth visiting the capital and have lunch at its restaurants. The top restaurant, to my mind, is Poseidon.
It is easy to get around Poros mainly by taxi or by small boats.
Odyssey Suites is an absolutely beautiful little hotel on the Island of Poros.. All with lovely views of the sea. Fabulous balconies to watch the sunset while looking down on the roof top herb garden with bougainvillea growing freely. . Beautifully decorated. Nothing was too much trouble. We managed to stay another night and Dora couldn't be more accommodating. The breakfasts were amazing. You could never go hungry here. Dinner was equally delicious. Dora is one of the nicest people ever. We can't wait to go back.
If you are looking for a well located hotel with no frills in Poros, then Dionysos Hotel would be a perfect choice. No more than 5 minutes walk from the hydrofoil and opposite the ferry to Galatas. It is well located in Poros town with a supermarket a few doors down. We had a superior room and loved the views from the balcony. Really lovely friendly staff and the breakfast was perfectly fine - nothing fancy, but everything you would want. There are just so many lovely restaurants and bars a short walk away.
The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and gave us many tips about what to visit on the island. The room was very spacious, with many facilities, clean and great value for money . The biggest beach of the island is just a few steps away and has free umbrellas as well if you arrive early or late in the afternoon. The view was great even from the ground floor as the hotel is a bit uphill. Not far from the port and the main town, especially if you have your own vehicle. Highly recommended!
The hotel was very nice! When we arrived we immediately got shown our room, which was great. The staff is very nice as well. The pool is nice and when it is closed during the afternoon it is only a short walk to the beach. There is a taxi boat in Poros Town that takes you to Askeli beach for only €2 (you can also take this boat back to Poros Town and to Monastery beach). The kitchen has everything you need. The balcony was very nice and had a very nice view.
Very nice property and location. It is walking distance to town. The area has nice restaurants, but the main area is only 5 to p10 minutes walk to more options. The property was well manicured, very clean, and up to date. The view is beautiful either pool side (marina) or the mountain (gardens). The staff went out of their way to help and assist. The rooms were comfortable and large. We are planning in staying in this hotel in the future.
property has great view on island, huge balcony with umbrella and chairs, it was big room plenty of space, host was nice and he meet me at the port on my arrival and also took me back when i was leaving. Poros port is about 15 min walking from this place, but there are beaches just in 5 min distance. be prepared for walking up stairs, because beachfront houses are all on the hills
some of the facilities needed little bit of repairing
Lovely family hotel. Very friendly and comfortable and laid back relaxing atmosphere. Good quiet location and nice views over the bay and to town. About 20 minutes stroll to the centre of Poros Town, where we went most evenings. Great selection at breakfast. Our room was very spacious and a huge amount of storage space.
Excellent location, hotel personnel very friendly, we always book Golden View every time we visit Poros,
We come to Poros the last 10 years, and the hotel never disappointed us. The best beach of the island in front of the hotel. Delicious lunch at the hotel taverna with very reasonable prices.
The hotel is great in a good location. Poros town is steep, and the walk from the shore to the hotel can be difficult for people with mobility problems, and inaccessible for people needing a wheel chair.
The breakfast is very good, located on the third floor, with a mesmerizing view..
> Excellent breakfast with incredible view (even better than from Clock Tower of Poros)!
> Comfortable bed
> Hotel is not far away from port (10' by foot) and located in a calm neighbourhood, but the staircase leading to the hotel might be a challenge for certain persons.
The people working in the hotel are very kind and always willing to help you with all means. Well done!!
The location of the hotel is the best on the island. The view from the restaurant's balcony is like a piece of art!.
The private beach of the hotel is wonderful!
The area is not far from Poros town, it is somehow between Poros and the beaches, so you can walk everywhere. There is a lovely tavern under the hotel. The room was big with a nice view. There is a kitchenette with the basics and a fridge which is nice.
Awesome view in one of poros most famous bays (Neorio). The most relaxing bed I've slept into ever! Nice spacious room and balcony! There are quiet beach bars in walking distance from the room where you can enjoy clear waters and coctails!
The employees of the hotel were very friendly and accommodating. The cleanliness of the room and the hotel in general was at a high level. The hotel is located in a nice location in a nice little bay.
We had an exceptional stay at Saga, thanks to the warm hospitality of the family who own and staff the hotel. They made our family feel very much at home.
