Hydra is a quiet island (except, crowded in the morning when the cruise ships and ferries come in). This is a place to have a 3 hour dinner that starts after 9 pm if you so desire. If you're looking for a party, go somewhere else. There are no vehicles - if you want to ride, you get on a donkey in town, a horse to explore further inland or a boat to find a more remote beach (just don't expect white sand). Like many places in this part of Europe, there are cats everywhere, and they don't mind asking you to share your meals. Be careful when shopping - everything is negotiable. My review of the Miranda is for what it is; a charming hotel in an older building that provides good value for the money (don't expect high end luxury). The included breakfast was basic but satisfying (no other meal service). Staff was very friendly and gave helpful dining advice.

It is in a convenient location, not too far up the hill, easy to walk around and lots of places to eat nearby. Maria at the front desk was amazing kind and helpful with suggestions, reservations and answers to all our questions. All of the staff member we meet were friendly, smiling and helpful. Breakfast on the patio was very pleasant and the two male servers were great!

My son and I felt so welcome at Miranda that we plan to rerun next year. This place seems to belong to a time where nothing moves fast and all things are handled gently and with care. The owner told us, here you will sleep well. Indeed, after days and days of traveling and insomnia and that resíduo of NYC stress, I have never slept better. The garden is magical. The breakfast delicious. And the stuff...very polite and friendly when we asked for suggestions and recommendations. A foreground light filled out bedroom, well decorated with antiques and truly delicate linens. Soon we found out they there’s much history for his place, and history that is deeply tied to the island’s culture. Needless to say, the hotel has it’s own art gallery and curator, showing serious art works from important collections. We look forward to coming back.

The place exceeded our expectations. The room was lovely and had a rooftop terrace. The staff gave great advice about the island and where to go. The breakfast was a feast! They were also very understanding when we needed a little late checkout. It was also clean.

The location was great, and the place was homey and cute. The staff was kind and helpful when we called them. The breakfast was really good. We loved the island so much that we extended our stay by another night, and they gave us a really good price for it. Overall, the place was extremely cute and totally worth it.

Sitting in the garden. Beds were very comfortable. Aldo a really good person and extremely helpful in every way.

Great location and view from the upper floor room. Great value for money. This unique hotel has a some history and it's fascinating.

It has a wonderful history and is elegant and like staying in an old mansion. Has a home like feel. Good view from our room number 4. Breakfast buffet had meats, cheese, Greek yogurt, honey, jam and several breads. Coffee. Be aware that it had a freestyle approach to check in. There may not be anyone there but they will come when you call them. Would stay again and hope to. Hydra is wonderful. Be careful on the island if you have cat allergies.

The bed was like a cloud! The breakfast spread was exceptional and most delicious. The views from our bedrooms were lovely!

Very quaint and historic. Good location. Wonderful breakfast!

One of our top picks in Hydra. Originally a wealthy sea captain’s mansion built in 1810, the Miranda is a fine example of characteristic local architecture. It is located 350 feet from the port and 650 feet from Ydra’s main beach.
Miranda features uniquely styled rooms, some with old hand-painted ceilings made by Venetian artists. They are all air conditioned and offer garden or sea views. Free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and a seating/dining area are standard.
A homemade breakfast with fresh local products is served at the hotel's garden, full of flowers and lemon trees.
Declared a National Heritage monument by the Ministry of Culture, the Miranda has a fine collection of 18th and 19th century furniture, prints and paintings. Several art exhibitions of a high standard take place annually in the Miranda Art Gallery.
The hotel is located in a beautiful and quite location, only 3 minutes’ walk from the harbor and the cosmopolitan life of Hydra. 24-hour reception staff will be happy to offer information on local attractions and things to do. Property can arrange hiking tours with certified hiking guides at the surrounding area.
This is our guests' favorite part of Hydra, according to independent reviews.

An old Hydriote house, a simple garden with jasmines, a stone courtyard in shades of red, and...a couple of stairs. These few things bound, beneath the golden sun, with sturdy thread people from all over the world! That is our secret. Miranda
