Guatemala is a very friendly country, filled with incredible Mayan ruins, exotic birdlife, and stunning volcanoes. We spent time in Flores, Tikal, Antigua, Xela and Lake Atitlan. We also spent several days hiking, including volcano treks and staying with families in homestays, properly experiencing the local communities. Our hike up Acatenango and a night spent watching Volcan de Fuego erupt was one of the most incredible experiences of my life.
We were nervous about the reports of crime but we felt safe the whole time albeit we remained cautious and alert. We travelled on the local buses, and people were always helpful getting us off at the right stop and on to the next correct bus.

Guatemala is just a unique and diverse country, filled with new experiences waiting for you. Unless you take the time to get to know some Guatemalans, it won’t be a complete stay. From Atitlan lake to colonial Antigua, to the coast and up into the Mayan ruins of Tikal, you won’t find a more interesting and friendly country on earth! Traffic is tough in the capital and a bit curvy in the high mountains. Food is always fresh and delicious with beans, rice, corn and fresh fruit always. Check out Santo Domingo in Antigua for the nicest colonial ambience and wedding destination from around the world.

Antigua is a must see when you're in Guatemala.
Antigua is a must see when you're in Guatemala. It's just an hour away, and it is best if you go for a tour guide as they give you a very complete feel of the Guatemalan culture that is mixed of Mayan and Spanish culture

Fantastic place to visit.
Fantastic place to visit. We got to see most of the main sights during our two weeks but it was very busy...I'd suggest taking a little longer to see the country (as there's a lot of mini-bus travel) or booking in a few relaxing days at the end of the trip.
What did we like?? Everything!!! Sophie and her husband Raul are amazing hosts - helpful and nice, always smiley. The accomodation is in the best part of Guatemala City - in the city center, safe area, close to every attractions, many shops, restaurants near by.
The accomodation outside and inside is beautiful. The small garden is lovely. The room were huge and the beds are comfy.
The breakfast was delicious and fresh.
If we'll back in Guatemala City we'll choose again Sophie and Raul:)
The rooms are new and big, the hotel’s facilities are good and well maintained. The restaurant is fine and the breakfast is great. The location is perfect as Zone 10 seems quite safe and there is a very good shopping center just next to the hotel (accessible by the main entrance) and with a lot of different good restaurants options. If you need to move around Guatemala City or you need to arrange business trips you can arrange everything through the front desk (highly recommended).
Arrived late into Guatemala City Airport and just needed somewhere to sleep for the night. A friendly driver greeted us at the airport and took us a short drive to the hotel. The staff were friendly, although they do not speak English. We easily communicated through Google translate! They arranged our transport in the morning to where we needed to go. Breakfast tasted great! Shower was hot and the place is clean! For how close it is to the airport it was rather quite.
The property is quite pretty once you get there. it is also very close to the airport in Guatemala City. Our problem all started with the staff. We were told that they would send over a shuttle to pick us up once we were out of the airport. several texts later, no response and no shuttle. we had to walk over .
However, once in the room things were fine. The room is very nice, very clean, and they have a nice terrace on the top.
i cannot deny this hostel is not in the very center, but you can catch a brt city bus right on the main street(3-5min walk) by only paying 1q.
the owner is very welcoming and helpful, speaks good english too.
this is the only place in guatemala that i could pay by card without paying some stupid commission fees.
its quiet at night, and you dont feel cold because of the thick enough blanket and firmly closed window.
I booked this place now once for me and for my friend to stay as he was flying in to Guatemala City.
It's very convenient inbetween airport + other Guatemala destinations.
The staff is excellent - offering shuttles from airport. Breakfast is offered - the view of the city I like.
could watch the planes from airport all day. I like that there is option for private transportation from hostel.
Cindy is a great host. She assisted and supported my trip very well. She arranged an airport pickup, but unfortunately my ride had an issue during the pickup, then immediately she arranged an alternative ride to pick me up from airport. Beyond that, she also assisted me in site seeing Guatemala City as well and then arranged a transportation to my next destination, Antigua. She is so exceptional.
It’s my second time staying at this hostel. I arrived really early but they let me check in as soon as someone checked out and the bed was ready which was around 7 am. So I really appreciated this gesture from the receptionist! Everyone is really friendly and super helpful there. I definitely can recommend this place and surely will be back once I’m in Guatemala City again.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Good Hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room had everything we needed, was clean, filtered water waiting and an amazingly comfortable bed. The little terrace was also a huge bonus to make up to and see the sunrise over the City. Breakfast was exceptional as was the coffee.
Only wish we could have stayed another night.
Giovanni is a perfect guest, offering advices and help. The place is close to the central zona 1 of Guatemala City and is easy to reach the main square, the cathedral, the market and the Main Street with shops and restaurants. The hotel is safe and clean and perfect for one night stay in the city!
Quiet and pretty courtyard with lovely plants. Close (walking distance for us) to excellent museums and various restaurants. Staff was friendly and helpful by arranging a friendly ride to the airport at a much too early time in the morning. We would stay there again if in Guatemala City!
This is a lovely older home in a very safe and vibrant district of Guatemala City. The antique furnishings are lovely and the home is spacious and clean. It was fun to walk down to Avenida Sexta for dinner and a shopping at the Mercado Central! The staff was very kind and helpful.
The staff is always amazing, from the lady who checked me in at the front desk to the waiter helping with breakfast. Amazing suite, super clean, comfortable bed, I'm in love with this hotel. I try to stay at the Clarion Suites every time I have to stay overnight in Guatemala City.
We had a layover in guatemala city and booked for somewhere to get a few hours sleep. Hotel was very close to the airport and the hotel organised taxis for us which meant it was very hassle free.
We only stayed a few hours but it was perfect for what we needed
We were just there for a quick overnight stop between buses and wish we'd stayed longer. We met the friendliest people during out short stay in Guatemala City, who went above and beyond to help us - Including Hugo, our host.
it is a small clean hostel that is very close to the airport making it great as a quick overnight stay when transiting to/from Guatemala City. The morning breakfast was also very delicious!
Fernando is wonderful! The rooms are cozy and the terrace is lovely! Amazing breakfast included and free shuttle to the airport! Will stay here every time I'm in Guatemala City!
Super close to airport, they pick you up directly, which is great at Guatemala city
Super friendly and welcoming
I really recommend it if you land at night
