Stunning Split stands proudly on the eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea, and due to its great climate is called the Mediterranean Flower. It features eclectic architecture, spectacular views and delicious cuisine.
Split is centered around the ancient Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian, a magnificent building constructed at the beginning of the 4th century AD and featuring limestone and marble towers, columns and courtyards. It lies in a bay decorated with white sails of yachts, as sailing is definitely Split’s big thing!
The city is full of architectural gems, one of which is St. Duje’s Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in the world, built in 305 AD and combining both Roman and Catholic influences. Nearby Varoš is a must-see, one of the city’s oldest parts, full of charming streets and beautiful houses.
Make sure you visit the Bačvice Beach and the Riva promenade, popular with locals and full of cafés and palm trees. While on the hunt for local specialities, try soparnik - wood fired dough filled with vegetables - or local soft drinks Pipi and Orela.
So just pack your bags and head to Split Airport! Booking.com has plenty of sunny apartments, friendly guest houses and well-equipped hotels for your Split adventure.

We travelled to Split in December in low season so did not have lots of tourists around at this time and made it easy to see attractions. Rented a car and went to Plitvice National Park, Klis Fortress, Salona ancient village, the village of Vid where an ancient roman museum is of Roman Emperor Alexander the Great is located, and to Trogir and the Ciovino Island adjacent to Trogir. Xmas lights and festivities were happening all round the Old City. Had some great weather to enjoy these wonderful sites. Not many guided tours were available at this time so a rented car was very useful, and street parking was relatively easy to find because of low season. Any paid parking was 20-25 Euro per day, so happy to avoid that.

Split was an amazing place, great restaurants and a very interesting old town. We loved staying near the port with a great view, there was a lot of activity to sit and watch, cruise ships and ferries come and go. It was perfect.

Beautiful seaside resort steeped in ancient history.
Beautiful seaside resort steeped in ancient history. In 5 days, we took a rickshaw ride to get started; walked through Diocletian Palace and Riva; enjoyed horseback ride at Podstrana; ziplining at Mt. Kozjak; and half-day speedboat ride to 3 islands including Trogir. Also took a half-day road trip to Krka National Park. Ate at restaurants along the Riva - al good. Look for free parking on street or low priced in public parking lots.

Wonderful location especially for small kids as the pedestrian zone offers lots for safe exploration. Good food especially once you get off the Riva waterfront to side areas with local restaurants and fresh seafood. Stay away from the cruise ship focused promenade as its 'ok' food and also quite a bit pricier for what you get. For kids, the Zoo (petting Zoo really) and the Maritime museum were big highlights.
Our stay was absolutely fantastic! This location could not have been better, it was only a short walk to Bacvice beach! Downtown was extremely close too. If you’re staying in Split, this is the place to be! Our host was great and the apartment was very clean. We enjoyed our coffee every morning on the balcony with the stunning view looking out on the see or “more” as they say in Croatia. Beds were great and we had everything we needed for our stay. Will stay here again when we visit!
Speedy and helpful communication
Solution and customer oriented service (they had a possibility to give me an early check-in)
Room was as described
Location in the middle of Diocletian Palace
Excellent price-quality ratio
I basically never eat dinner at the hotel, but when the one of the best rated seafood restaurants is located in the hotel you just have to indulge yourself. The food was the best seafood I sampled in Croatia and I got the best service!
Thanks to this place and personally to Serjan, we fell in love with the city of Split and are now waiting to come back here again. Serjan helped us with everything and even solved our personal complex questions during our stay. The rooms and the mini-hotel itself are very clean, modern, and nicely decorated. We really liked the breakfasts and the restaurant in which they were provided. This was our best stay in Croatia. Thank you Serjan!
It was perfectly located in the heart of the old town - you can reach everything by foot and the best thing is that you can park the car in the back of the place - very convenient in a tight city Centre. They were extremely friendly and helpful - our luggage got caught up at a connecting airport and they let us stay until the afternoon and talked to the airport people for us on the phone... we are very thankful - till next time in split!
The apartment was everything you can ask for, spacious and very clean, with all necessities, and great linery, felt like home. The parking space provided helped us very much and the apartment is a few minutes walk from the old town. Overall one of the best places we stayed during our vacation in Croatia. The staff were very friendly and helpful to everything we needed. We highly recommend it.
Mario and Luka were amazing hosts at this beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of old town Split. They coordinated our arrival from Hvar and met us at the ferry to help with our bags, gave excellent recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants, and went above and beyond in so many ways. The rooms were excellent, comfy, and clean and the location was perfect. Would love to stay again.
Upon arrival from a long drive from Slunj, we were greeted by lovely staff that shared a traditional Croatian liquor and presented us with a map of Split with talking points on places to go, eat, and drink. They toured us around the hotel to ensure we were welcomed and our questions answered. Location was perfect for a short walk to Diocletian's Palace and main Split boardwalk.
10 min walk from bus stop at port. Josip met me at the apartment & was really helpful. Location is 2 mins from the beautiful centre of old town Split. Breakfast was a voucher for the Lvxor restaurant by Diocletian's Palace ( great way to start the day ). Loved my stay here. Split is a beautiful place & the apartment was perfect. Third trip to Croatia & will not be the last
Fantastic Apartment
We have travelled fro 7 weeks through UK, France, Spain, Italy, Montenegro and Croatia. This was b for the best Stay! Our host was so helpful and went out of his way to give of his time and energy to be sure we would see all the sights of the palace in the Old Town. Highly recommend staying here.
The room and bathroom were large and comfortable. We liked the large shower and the king size bed.
The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They, like many Croatians, like to kid around so it was always a pleasure to interact with them.
The hotel is adjacent to Old Town with a taxi stand right across the street.
The breakfast was very tasty, the best one we had out of all the hotels we stayed in Croatia. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well, already prepared with a map to show us where the best beaches are and how to drive around the city.
It had everything I needed for a nice cozy stay in beautiful Split, Croatia. I really enjoyed the nice big bed, the nice shower, and it was in a great location to be able to walk a reasonable distance to everywhere I wanted to go.
What a last minute find! In old town, but close to the Riva, Diocletian's palace and Marjan hill. After sleeping on a boat with Sail Croatia for 2 weeks, the bed was HEAVEN (a memory foam mattress) and the room was immaculate.
The location of the hotel was perfect, staff extremely knowledgeable and friendly, very good breakfast and lovely furnishings. I would highly recommend the Villa Split Heritage Hotel to anyone staying in Split, Croatia.
The location and rooms were amazing. Mate and his staff were the best part of not only our time in Split but our entire trip to Croatia. Highly recommend staying with him - he is a wonderful host and person.
my husband and I loved this place! very clean, calm… the apartment has everything that you need. there is supermarket very near, and 20 minutes to old town, but the way is easy… we loved the Croatia ❤️
The guy that runs the hostel is exceptionally nice. The price is good for Croatia and if you are someone who spends all day out and only come to hostel at night its perfect for you.
