The location was ideal. You had everything you needed with out door space to relax. The owners made great contact on arrival and did their best to make your stay a good one but kept a healthy distance so didn’t intrude on your holiday at all.

Apartments are spread around different buildings within an easy reach of the main reception which is located at Ćirila Metoda Street 2. They are housed in traditional Dalmatian stone houses. Plentiful dining and shopping options are available in the streets surrounding Casa Carminatti.

The apartments are furnished in different styles, often incorporating some traditional Dalmatian building elements and period pieces. History of Casa Carminatti dates all the way back to the 1830's. The house was built for Gian Batista Carminatti, a wealthy merchant of candles and his wife Gianina Nonveiller. Gian Batista was a native of Venice, who when he arrived in Split, fell so in love with the city that he decided to stay and build a house. The Neigbourhood where the house was built, was not the center of Split as it is today, but was a marginal part, a kind of residential area. Right next door to the house is situated the church of Our Lady of Health, which is known for defending Split from the plague in 1723. More accurately, the entire Split suffered from the plague, except for the suburb Dobri that was preserved from the plague by true miracle. Casa Carminatti, from the day its first owners moved in, was a place for parties , receptions and balls. It was a place where Gian Batista and Gianina invited their guests – members of family and friends, all representatives of high society. After their death, their descendants continued to live there. It is interesting that the house is continuously owned by the family, even till the present days.

The Split Old Town is full of tiny lanes with stalls full of local crafts and souvenirs. Along the outer side of the palace walls, built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian as a retirement home, you can find a number of cosy cafes and restaurants. There's nothing more relaxing than unwinding at one of these cafes after a day of sightseeing or watching ferries float in and out of the harbour.
