The Slavija Hotel in Split is in an extremely central location (literally inside Diocletian's Palace, and therefore in proximity to everything). It's a perfectly good hotel with a restaurant below. There was some nice fruit available with the included breakfast (as well as many other items) and the guy at the desk when I arrived was happy to offer ideas and tips for what to visit in the area.

Located within the historic walls of the UNESCO-protected Diocletian’s Palace in Split, Hotel Slavija offers free internet, a 24-hour reception, and air-conditioned rooms with satellite TV. The rooms overlook church towers, narrow Dalmatian streets and some rooms have views on the Marjan Hill.
