This is our second property in Bali, after Villa Kaniksa, both in/near Candidasa, at the East Coast of Bali. Two years ago we ran into this derelict little house, situated at a lotus pond, with the beach in the front, the rice paddies in the back and a quiet temple on the side. We had been looking for an opportunity like this; to design and build our own, cozy, beachfront villa in Bali, using our experience and knowledge gained over the past decade in Bali. So over the next 1 1/2 years we realised our dream and Villa Sanika opened its doors in the summer of 2017. We apply a flexible concept (tapping from the Kaniksa pool of staff), meaning that at all times we ensure the right level of service; so if you want to make your own meals, that's ok. If you want to have a cook to pamper you, no problem. If you want to sample some of the restaurants in Candidasa, we'll take care of that! We recommend Villa Kaniksa to couples or familie that enjoy the purity of Candidasa/Karangasem, the beachfront location, yet close to some lovely restaurants, quaint artisan shops and plenty of things to see/do. At less than 90 minutes from the airport!
I am from Indonesia, my husband is from the Netherlands. We lived in Europe and Asia for the past 16 years and are living in Bandung, West Java, since September 2017. We both find Bali very special and regard it as our second home. And we love to share our experience and passion for Bali in general, and the Candidasa area in particular, with our guests.
Karangasem represents the 'old' Bali, i.e. lush paddy fields, against the backdrop of mountains and volcanos, interspersed by little villages, temples and markets. There is a 'surprise' behind every corner; a traditional weaving facility, a procession of beautifully dressed men and women on their way to the temple, the teenage girl selling freshly caught fish on the road side, etc! Candidasa is the pearl in the Karangasem crown; a quaint little fishing village in a beautiful bay, with a nice mix of shops and restaurants (including a wonderful jazz cafe) to enrich the experience, however well shy of the overcrowded tourist scene in the south. And with plenty of activities to chose from (snorkelling, diving, rafting, fishing, hiking, motorbiking, elephant zoo, paragliding etc). Find out for yourself!
