We absolutely loved our stay. Tracy and Peter were super friendly and amazing. The breakfast is great too. I would highly recommend staying.

We loved the scenery.. all the places to swim and the rocks by the sea. Loved the privacy of it and spaciousness. Tracy and Pete are great hosts and lovely people. And put a lot of effort into making it a great place to visit with sustainability at its core.

The whole experience from start to finish was so special, it is hard to describe in words. Long Island is just beautiful. Peter and Tracey have created something magical. They are so welcoming and hospitable but also leave you in peace to enjoy the island your own way. We got a beautiful homecooked breakfast delivered to our tent, and ate it overlooking the sea, feeling like we were the only people on the island. This is a trip that we will never forget and cannot wait to go back!

You have to try this! Fabulous location, quite an adventure. Hosts go out of their way to make your stay special. Absolutely fabulous food, eat indoors if the weather is poor. Amazing garden and plentiful use of castaway objects adorn the grounds and tastefully incorporated into the house. Breakfast in a basket delivered to your tent.

Tracy and Peter were so welcoming and warm, they made my trip an amazing experience and have created an out of this world space to chill and reconnect with nature. There is an abundance of beautiful wildlife and stunning scenery to take in that made every moment of my trip special. The beaches, alcoves and light house were highlights but seeing dolphins was the icing on the cake! Speaking of cake… I recommend having breakfast and dinner at castaway as it’s delicious and every detail has gone into the presentation.

Everything was perfect, from the views, to the comfortable tents, the breakfast picnic basket, the hot tub, camp essentials, the delicious fresh bakes from Tracy’s kitchen, and the stunning site created by Pete, this was a stay we will never forget. This campsite offers a friendly wild camping experience that also includes some luxuries that you would expect from a campsite. Beautiful surrounds right beside the sea and excellent sustainable facilities available. Very well run, maintained to a high standard and very clean. Bring all that you need with you for your stay. Water, toilet and utensil washing facilities are provided. Tracy and Pete offer some great dining experiences if you pre-book to compliment your stay. We hired their two-person tent for three nights and it was good quality tent with lovely touches provided.

An island adventure awaits you. Your tent will be pitched awaiting your arrival and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean with only the sounds of nature to keep you company. The emphasis is on freedom, spontaneity, and the unexpected. Watch the early sunrise and enjoy the uninterrupted south-facing views overlooking the other islands. Your inner child will love exploring the many private coves and rock pools. Whether you are looking for some quality time out, solitude, new adventures, or inspiration, this is the place to come. The roar of the ocean will make you forget, while the crashing waves will help you remember. Your first steps here will be like stepping back in time into a world of discovery encased in a wrapping of pure nature. There is no traffic noise, only the sound of the ocean and wildlife. Leave your worries at Colla Pier as this is where the adventure truly begins.
We took a leap of faith in coming to live here. We left our secure lifestyle behind us in the UK to start a new way of life in 2016. Island living is very different from mainland living and is not for everyone. We are so glad we found the courage to break free. A simple lifestyle is physically demanding but very rewarding. We chose to take our foot off the accelerator and honor our true natures. Our new way of being nurtures our souls. Simplicity is our mantra. We are living our dream with so many changes having been witnessed. Extraordinarily living an ordinary life has put us both on our individual pathways to personal & spiritual freedom. We have one life. What we do with that precious gift is down to us. We made our choice and followed our dream... what will you do? ​ ​
Long Island is five minutes from mainland Colla Pier and lies south of Schull. The islands within Long Island Bay are collectively known as Carbery’s Hundred Isles, and many can be seen from East House. Look out for the Seals, Otters, Dolphins, oystercatchers, and Turnstones together with other Birdlife, Butterflies, and the range of Fauna & Flora. Surprisingly the island got its name from being long; The island is 3.0 miles long by 0.5 miles wide, with varying landscapes from end to end. Copper Point Lighthouse is the most distinctive man-created feature on the island, and the island is scattered with old stone ruins, which gives an air of mystery. The remoteness of the eastern lands of Long Island and its Wild Atlantic Ocean views are what breathe life and energy into your stay.
