Glasha is a multi-award winning 5* accommodation set in the beautiful Nire Valley between the Comeragh and the Knockmealdown mountains in North Waterford/South Tipperary - off the 671 between Clonmel and Dungarvan. It is a genuine working dairy farm and guests can see the cows grazing happily in the green fields that surround Glasha. The house is very spacious and comfortable. There is a large guest room for guests own use which leads onto a conservatory and then out to our patio and garden. All the bedrooms have kingsize beds and are ensuite etc. There are some lovely circular walks from the house and some of these walks might end up at our 'Local' pub where the guest might even a great pint of Guinness and meet and chat with some of the neighbours. There are lovely cycle routes from the house through quiet country roads - no highways near Glasha. Fishing is quite popular at Glasha and there is a wonderful Guille nearby who owns a great fishing tackle shop where the guests can hire out gear to go on the river. We are only 30 minutes drive from the coast and if a guest would like to hillwalk we are surrounded by two great mountain ranges.
I married my late husband Paddy in 1978 and had 6 children - 3 girls and 3 boys. as they were growing up I needed more space and extended the house etc and then in 1995 I opened Glashafarmhouse and welcomed my first guest in on St Patrick's weekend and the rest is history. I worked in a bank before marrying Paddy and always enjoyed interacting with people so thought running a B/B would be fun where I would meet and welcome guests in my front door from all over the world. I have enjoyed my work over the years and have made great friends. 'People come in as guests but leave as friends'. We have enjoyed a great repeat business over the years. I love gardening and having the place looking great always. I enjoy the compliments I get when guests admire the flowers, garden ornaments etc. I am part of a choir in the local community and have taken part in lots of events either on tv or on stage. We recently travelled to Prague to take part in the Autumn Choir Festival which was held in several cathedrals there. It was a great opportunity to meet choirs from Russia, Italy, Spain and several other countries. I love cooking and baking for guests and am happy to share receipies.
Glasha is situated in the countryside surrounded by green fields and purple mountains. We are approx 1 hour driving from Cork, Waterford and Shannon airport and 2.5 hours from Dublin airport. Our nearest town in Clonmel which is a lovely town on the banks of the river Suir. Dungarvan is another lovely town on which is on the seaside and only 1/2 hour drive from Glasha. Glasha is a genuine working Farmhouse when guests can view cows being brought in from the fields for milking or new born baby calves in the spring. There are lots of activities surrounding Glasha . There are lots of roads for walking and hills for climbing. Fishing can be done in the local river which flows through our land. Cycling is very popular in the area - as is golfing. There is no a lovely Greenway opened to guests outside Dungarvan which is perfect for families and any person interested in safe walking or cycling. Clonmel and Dungarvan have a great choice of restaurants, and there is a little 'local' pub just a few minutes walk from the house where you will be served with a great pint of Guinness etc or just meet the locals for a chat. Glasha is surrounded with beautiful gardens etc and the rooms are very well appointed.
