Glenboy offers luxurious accommodation (maximum AA 5 star rating) in a lovingly restored stone barn in rural setting on the Cavan-Meath border - an hour from Dublin. Traditional Irish farmhouse style with the luxury for a holiday to remember. Sleeps 8 adults (+ 1/2 infants/toddlers). Glenboy is 10 minutes walk from the market town of Oldcastle with all the features of a typical rural Irish town where real people work and live. A range of music can be found in the pubs at weekends. Sports include pitch & putt & Gaelic football. Cultural events include the co club, the Le Cheile Arts and Music Festival and Agricultural Show. Within five minutes drive of the accommodation are the 5000 year old Loughcrew megalithic cairns, woodland walks at Mullaghmeen forest or renowned fishing/boating lakes such as Lough Sheelin. Glenboy is located adjacent to the lakeland districts of Meath, Westmeath and Cavan. County Meath is a treasure trove of archaeological & historical sites. In the Boyne Valley are Newgrange, Knowth & Dowth with their Neolithic tombs & monuments. The Hill of Tara was a centre of pagan worship from 2100 BC & seat of Ireland's High Kings. The Norman castle at Trim constructed by Hugh de Lacy in 1172 hosted Mel Gibson's Braveheart 400 years later. Fore Abbey in Westmeath with its ' 7 wonders' or Kells, famed for St. Columba's 6th monastery & the Book that bears its name now on display in Trinity College Dublin.
