About Glendine Irish Home B&B
Thanks! You'll receive an email as soon as the property answers your question.
Glendine Irish Home is set on a hillside with spectacular panoramic views overlooking Clonakilty and the surrounding countryside, yet only 8 minutes walk from the town centre, with footpath and street lighting all the way. As an adult only accommodation, it is an ideal location for people looking for a quiet restful country location and the convenience of top class restaurants and shops nearby.
Mick & Mari are avid motorcycle enthusiasts and take to the road at every possible opportunity. The West Cork coastline and Beara Penninsula in particular are really special day trips. They completed the Wild Atlantic Way in 2014. When they are not swanning around on their motor cycle Rosebud, they do a bit of B&B in order to pay for the petrol during their travels. They both take great pride in the baking prowess, often trying to outdo each other in their homemade soda breads and muffins. There is also some stiff rivalry when it comes to making the jams, but it all bodes well for the guests who must devour the produce. They tend to their own chickens, locally know as Hanly's Happy Hens, which provide the freshest eggs for the breakfast table.
If you are touring the Cork/Kerry region, why not use Clonakilty as your base. (1) The Beara peninsula, (2) The Ring of Kerry, although an early start is definitely recommended (3) Blarney Castle, Kinsale & Cork City, (4) Middleton and Cobh Heritage Centres are all less than 90 minutes drive from Clonakilty. These areas make ideal day trips from Clonakilty. If sunshine abounds you must go to the beach. There are numerous unspoilt sandy beaches, coves and harbours nearby, particularly Inchydoney Beach and Red Strand. On the way to Inchydoney you will pass Clonakilty’s tidal bay, which abounds with wildlife. There’s plenty to occupy your days, such as visits to the Model Village, the West Cork Museum, Lios na gCon Ring Fort, Ballyvackey and Templebryan Stone Circles and the Michael Collins Memorial Homestead (all within 5 miles). We recommend that you go to see Castlefreke Castle in Castlefreke Wood and bring a picnic. If you’re energetic we suggest that you hire a bike and visit these sites by bicycle at your leisure.
