Raymond in particular looked after us, and ensured that we knew the best spots to visit in and around Drogheda while entertaining us with a few tales. Is there a shuttle available to get to the closest beach nearby? What are the other transportation options?The closest beach is Seapoint just outside Termonfeckin which is 8km driving time 10 min. There are no public transportation options and your own vehicle would be required. Alternatively walking time would be approx 1.5 hrs on country roads without footpath.Answered on 9 September 2019

Our group of 6 consists of two married couples and 2 single women. Ideally we would like two bedrooms with one double, queen, or king sized bed and one room with two twin size beds. Yes we have one room, available for thowe few days that we allow small dogs to stay in. They need to be house trained and kept on a lead if they have a taste for hens and ducks. Listoke House and Gardens are situated on the Ballymakenny Road, Drogheda, County Louth. The property is a sympathetic and asthetic blending of old and new surrounded by Edwardian gardens and woodlands and steeped in family history. Our B and B accommodation, situated in the main house, has stunning views of the courtyard, gardens and surrounding landscape. All the bathrooms have free standing baths and views of the gardens. The rooms are heated by underfloor heating. There is a beautiful shared relaxation space with fabulous views and lovely light. Our guests are often found sitting up here with a glass of wine watching the foals playing in the fields or listening to the gentle sounds of our summer soiree concerts. Breakfast is served in the Garden Room with a large log burning fire and we use produce from our vegetable garden and orchard whenever possible....our own honey, fruit, jams, bread etc as well as supporting other local food producers. The only noise to wake you up in the morning is birdsong and our hens looking for their breakfast. Yoga classes, massage, sound healing, sound baths and creative workshops can be arranged on request.
Raymond has a passion for equestrian sport and breeds Traditional Irish Sport Horses on site. He has spent his working life travelling world wide as an environmentalist. Juliet has a background in music and is passionate about healing arts, yoga, meditation, baroque music and food. She will be offering sound healing and holistic retreats from Listoke in the coming months.
Guests wishing to explore the surrounding area are spoilt for choice. Situated in Ireland's Ancient East, in the heart of the Boyne Valley, we are just a 5 minute drive from the bustling town of Drogheda with its abundance of restaurants and pubs, a thriving arts scene and a rich heritge of traditional music. We are ideally situated for visiting popular historic tourist sites and sacred spaces such as the stone age passage tombs at Newgrange ( Bru na Boinne), Dowth and Knowth, Mellifont Abbey, The Hill of Tara and The Round Tower at Monasterboice.
This part of the country is also renowned for an abundance of local award winning food producers, with everything from cheeses, honey, charcuterie and organic flours, to heritage spuds, garlic, whiskey distilleries and craft breweries. To find out more, check out the Boyne Valley Food Trail.
For those who like to be active there are lovely walks along the river Boyne and further afield. Popular starting points are Slane,( taking in Slane Castle), the traditional fishing villiage of Clogherhead, where seals are often to be seen close to the pier and Carlingford where there are beautiful walks in the mountains overlooking the sea.
