Cracking City of Craic

Welcoming Galway is a small city with fantastic nightlife and an infectious atmosphere. Outside of the Galway Arts Festival, there’s still plenty of live music in the Irish pubs to get the party started.

The Galway Races at Ballybrit Race Course west of Galway Airport attract a good crowd, as does Eyre Square, a green space with flags of previous ruling families who gave it its nickname - City of Tribes. To the south are cobbled streets housing brightly coloured shops and restaurants.

Sights in Galway include its cathedral and city museum which offers an interesting insight into the history of the city and Ireland. Lynch’s Castle is the last remaining 17th-century merchant house, and the Spanish Arch is a small section of city walls by the Corrib River, linking Galway Bay to huge Loch Corrib. Where river and ocean meet is Claddagh Park, a great spot for a picnic with a view.

Further around the coast is Salthill Promenade, home to Atlantaquaria, Ireland’s national aquarium, focussing on sealife off Irish shores. It’s a Christmas Day tradition to jump from Blackrock Diving Tower nearby into the icy Atlantic Ocean, though you may well spot some wag giving it a go.

    Galway és una ciutat petita amb un centre molt animat, ple de restaurants, pubs i botigues. Té molts llocs d'interès arquitectònic i una sortida al mar força espectacular. La gent és amable i pots gaudir de bon menjar, bona cervesa i fer un té saboròs. Hi ha força llibreries de les que destaco la Charlie Byrne's bookshop, una delícia. Des d'allà es poden fer excursions per gaudir del paisatge i de llocs impressionants com els penya-segats de Moher i saber de la seva història ancestral.

    Allotjament agradable, còmode i força cèntric, situat a tan sols 10 minuts a peu del centre peatonal de Galway. L'atenció fou excel·lent, l'aparcament gratuït també va ser molt satisfactori així com la comoditat de l'habitació i del llit. Menció especial per l'esmorzar irlandès, que fou absolutament deliciós. Les habitacions es troben just a sobre del bar Sliding Rock així que es pot menjar o beure una bona cervesa si bé de gust.

    La situació a 15 minuts a peu del centre de Galway és bona. S'hi arriba amb una agradable passejada i també hi ha servei de bus per poder-hi arribar. El fet de tenir una cuina és molt positiu ja que pots anar a comprar a un supermercat i et permet preparar-te algun àpat.

    La casa és una preciositat, està ubicada molt a prop de Galway i s'hi arriba molt ràpid. L'habitació era molt gran i maca, amb bany propi també gran. La decoració era increïble i l'esmorzar de 10, molt complet. L'atenció dels hosts impecable.
