It was central for exploring the Innishowen Penninsula and close to visiting the many attractions nearby and beaches. Shops and restaurants close too. The fire was lit on the first night and then set each day for us to light when suited. the coal and logs were also provided throughout our entire visit. The owner was very friendly as was his friend who called too when owner was unable to call

Postcard type thatch cottage, with traditional old style stone floor, which was dry warm, and remarkably spacious

It’s perfect for a small family. Ideally located in the Inishowen Peninsula. One is never more than 30 minutes drive from anything in this part of Donegal. Great beaches all around. Culdaff a blue flag beach is only 10 minutes drive away. We loved it and would consider staying here again.

Just home from this beautiful little cottage had a lovely time here. The host very friendly told us the history about the cottage and lit the fire for us which was lovely. The location was perfect for town centre and surrounding towns and the best beaches about I love visiting Donegal and would highly recommend this place to anyone we hope to be back again soon. Tank you for having us at your beautiful cottage. 💚💚

Our host Ger was very friendly and helpful. He gave us a lot of great information and advice about the area, where to go and what to do.

ger was very friendly and helpful. great information on places to eat and visit. arrived every evening to put on fire and arrived with scones, butter, jam and milk the first night

Very nice and calm small thatched house (one living room and two bed-rooms, plus bathroom). We did not meet the owner when we arrived, but he had left a nice coal fire in the stove, and home made delicious berry jam and bread (plus other stuff) for us. The first night we had good dinner in Gleneely (Orchard Bar). The second day we went around the region all day, and we had an excellent dinner at the Seaview Tavern near Malin Head. We met the owner when we came back home; he is a very nice and warm person, one of the best we met in Ireland. We would have gladly spent more time there!

Loved hearing about the history of the cottage from the host on arrival. And he was very attentive with lighting the fire bringing home baked scones and jam. Walking distance from Carndonnagh was a greal advantage too.

Owner made contact well for in advance of our arrival and left them for us to collect, all very straight forward. The cottage was warm and really sweet with a very welcoming feel. The provision of scones and jam was very kind and much appreciated as were all the local tips and hints.

Beautiful cottage. Friendly host who left us some homemade scones, fresh milk, eggs and butter. Bringing the dogs was no problem to him. Great location.

Tigín Tuí, which means Little Thatched House, is a wonderful home which combines a century of history and modern day amenities. Set just outside Carndonagh on the road leading to Malin Head, our cottage offers you a warm and comfortable welcome. We have striven to keep the character of this lovely old cottage having maintained the thatch and simple interior furnishings whilst offering all that you will need for an enjoyable break away.
I live locally and will be available to welcome you and help you with any information you require during your stay. My passions are good food, home baking and hospitality. I provide a little welcome home baked gift on arrival and other home cooking items are available on request. I feel strongly that our local area of Inishowen is a unique and largely undiscovered treasure and I am more than happy to give you guidance for your days of exploration on our Peninsula.
Just 17 km from Carndonagh you will reach the most northerly point of Ireland that is Malin Head. Standing on Banba’s Crown you will hear the sounds of the sea mingling with the cries of the sea birds and know what I mean when I say “you have arrived “. On a clear day, Scotland’s Mull of Kintyre is visible on the horizon. This spring , the makers of the famous blockbuster Star Wars are coming to Malin Head to shoot some of the next Star Wars movie in this incredible landscape. A thirty minute drive out to the west in the direction of Letterkenny, the ancient fort of Grianán of Aileach stands 250m above sea level on the hills overlooking our beautiful Peninsula in its entirity. From the hill on which this ringfort stands (dating from 1700 BC) you can see the City of Derry and the Loughs Foyle and Swilly below. Tradition tells us that St Patrick baptized the local chieftan Eoghan here in the 5th Century and it is from this leader that Inishowen takes its name. A gentle walk from the carpark takes you up to the popular Glenavin waterfall outside Clonmany town which is just 12 km from Carndonagh . You can then descend for a delicious afternoon tea in the Glen House.
